OUR OPINION
Apogee built its name on sound quality and this little gadget features the same big sound and high quality converters they are famous for. If you need rich, pro sound recordings, and the ability to take it on the road, the Duet is definitely a top choice. Recommended.

The Monster MP Pro 800 is a professional level power center, ideally suited for home studio use or onstage. There are a few major differences between this power center and the average power strip you can find in any electronics store. First and foremost, the MP 800 provides "clean power" through Monster's Stage 1 V 2.0 system. Straight from the wall AC power contains all kinds of disturbances, power spikes, and other noise which can interfere and effect your sound. Some you can hear with the naked ear, but most of it sneaks in without notice, effecting your sound whether you hear it or not. This is obviously crucial for home studio work and mastering. The MP 800 removes this "dirty" power interference and balances the power supply, while at the same time removing amp-based line noise and other buzzes, clicks, etc generated by your gear.

The surge protection is another key element here with 1850 joules of protection (most standard $20 models are about 1000). It also features Monster's "Dual Mode" system which automatically disconnects all sources and sounds an alarm when there is a major spike in power.

And finally it breaks down to convenience. The MP 800 is split up into 8 outlets which are all clearly marked & color coded. So when you go to unplug your computer or mixer you'll know exactly which plug it is rather than wrestling with a mess of cables. It also features 3 ultra wide adaptor spaces, an angled plug with a 10 foot cord, and gold plated contacts to maximize power transfer.

Power supplies are often an overlooked part of studio set up, and if you are going to spend thousands on your equipment, it's worth spending a little bit more to get a secure and clean sounding power management center like the MP 800.

The LStand is designed to elevate your laptop over your DJ setup, eliminating the "where do I put my laptop while I DJ" problem. In addition the height-adjustable, elevated angle gives you easier access to your laptop controls.

The LStand works as a stand-alone component as well as an extension for a dj coffin or table. Remove the two bottom supports and replace them with the included clamps, and the LStand will attach onto any surface up to 2 1/8" thick. The clamps can angled in 2 different directions, allowing you to attach it both to a flat table or the vertical side of a DJ coffin. When not in use, the LStand conveniently folds flat into the box that it comes in.

There are several differences with the LStand and the HiRise stands. First, as mentioned, the HiRise can be used in several different situations, while the HiRise only works as a stand-alone component. Secondly, the LStand is much heavier than the HiRise (5.5 vs 1.5 lbs in the box). Depending on your situation, this can work for or against you. The extra weight will provide a sturdier surface, but at the expense of 4 traveling pounds. In addition, boxes to both models serve as the carrying case. The HiRise case is made of a sturdy lightweight plastic. The LStand comes in a cardboard case which will not stand up to frequent travel. Lastly, the LStand comes in at a more inexpensive price.
