Wax Po' dropping knowledge on the funky-funky once again with the latin-tinged issue 19. The funky afro-filipino himself, Joe Bataan (of Fania fame), takes the cover and an extensivo interview from O-Dub. His story is real deep on multiple levels - and spans more than a few decades - so get educated on his truly heavy experience and masterful music. More Fania related goodies inside including Fania Records and Salsa collector photo spreads for all you record fiends out there, the in-depth story of Brazil's jazzy-funky Azymuth band, and Colombian dance floor fire - all illustrated with amazing photos as usual. Non-latin features include articles on Richard Pryor, best dressed chicken - Dr. Alimantado, NY hip hop history with Kool Dj Red Alert, and the history of Baltimore Club (get the real deal behind that B-More with the players that created it). Another recommended read.
