Ready for the funky jams? Well, the dudes at BBE have concocted another explosive release featuring the personal selections from Mr. Thing. If you slept on the Kon & Amir comp & mix they put out last year, it was full of heat and the standards on this haven't budged a bit. He selects 22 tracks of funk and soul originals and covers, old and new, with full high quality sound. He's really digging hard for some of these. Check the jams on Bergundy's "Tramp Reszlet(1)," Chain Reaction's "Hogtied(2)," David Batiste and The Gladiators' "Funky Soul Pt. 1(3)" and the Society Of Seven's "Superstar(4)." I'm really loving the variety, obscure but still banging. But for those with an appetite for something more familiar there's some awesome covers here well. You might have heard the Mohawk's "Champ," but you gotta check the funkdified "Tramp(5)" from Brother Lloyd's All Stars. How about Blackbuster's cover of the famous Banbarra cut, "Shack Up(6)" or the sick breaks on Discoettes' "Yes We Can Can(7)" or the gangsta funk of Lloyd Charmer's "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More(8)." All are worth spinning out, and that not even half the comp! Gotta give it up to Mr. Thing for keeping it alive. Plus, if you just wanna party, he gives you the mix also. 38 min of good funk and nothing but the funk.
