V/A Nigeria Disco Funk Special: Underground Lagos Dancefloor 1974-79 CD

the lab review
Lagos, Nigeria, mid 70's - wish I could have been there. Apparently it was a funky disco hotspot back when. Since listening to this record, I've been having daydreams of dark, hot, sweaty clubs packed to shit with beautiful people dancing their asses off and bumping with that raw FUNK! I don't think that '70s feel can ever really be brought back, only in dreams, but this CD helps! It's got tracks I bet you've never heard before, but if you're familiar with these awesome Soundway comps you know what you're in for - quality music from rarely documented, almost forgotten times. These guys make me very happy. Click on the audio, listen for yourself, you know you want to. Nice packaging, too - the CD comes in a super colorful case with a booklet which includes cover art from the original records that comprise this comp, as well as a little background on the music from label boss Miles Cleret. Includes "Take Your Soul(1)" by The Sahara All Stars, "Greetings(2)" by Johnny Haastrup, "Ijere(3)" by Dr.Adolf Ahanotu, "Some More(4)" by Jay-U Experience, "Love Affair" by S-Job Movement(5) and more. 9 tracks; 52 minutes.
