Tokyo-based label Mule Musiq has quietly heated up the 12" scene in a cult-like fashion. This understated label (check the all white packaging here) has introduced many to Force of Nature and procured remixes from the similarly cult producers. This is Mule's first label comp with most of these tracks appearing on CD for the first time. The styles span from cosmic to death disco to techno, with an underlying funkiness throughout (funky bass licks seem to be common thread). First check out Todd Terje's 8 minute remix of "The Secret Field(1)," which is then cut with Tensnake's "Keep Believin(2)" with its deep, spaced-out house sound. Sasse's "Deep Ocean Eddie(3)" gets into some electro-boogie, while the Force Of Nature remix(4) of Ana's "Shift" displays the label's signature techno sound. Awesome to see Padded Cell's remix(5) of Sly Mongoose's "Bad Pulse" make the cut; the combination just makes a lot of sense. Henrik Schwarz collaborates with Kuniyuki on "The Session(6)" and then the collection ends on a thumping note with Echologist's "Faith (Ny Remix)(7)." 11 tracks in all.
