I gotta say, as corny as I think the concept of badly recorded high school band breakbeats is (yo those kids are getting FUNKY, dog! DANG!), it is pretty interesting that random school bands are covering shit like "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy(1)" by Rod fucking Stewart. I mean, seriously you know these kids were having a great time, and I can dig it as a social document (holler at me with term paper queries, I go from metaphysics to etymology in 20 seconds flat). The "Carl Woods Experience(2)" is in a similar if less "great" vein, plus you get the Simpsons church scene re-enactment of a school band playing I-ron Butterfly(3) with some of the worst singing I think I've ever heard. But it's got BREAKS YO. Whatever kind of pink cardigan sweatball band coach had kids practicing "Gaza Strip(4)" at 5 in the morning, you can bet that parents were fucking tripping when they came to recital. "Celebrate(5)" and "The First Thing I Do(6)" are a couple other standouts. You know what you're getting into if you're buying this; I promise not to make fun of you.
