The return of Editions Disco! These limited 12"s are always chock full of the rarest gems, and that's why they get spun by everyone from Gilles Peterson to James Murphy, Carl Craig to Lindstrom, yadda yadda. This time, Language takes the scalpel to Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes' "Don't Leave Me This Way," transforming it into the monstrous "You Can't Go(1)." The super-extended intro is dope enough (killer funky bassline alert!), but the last 2-4 wild, echoey minutes really tear the roof off. Language has been road-testing this one, and needless to say, reactions have been positive. On the flip, Boston's K-Civ chops up Jakki's Paradise Garage staple "Sun Sun Sun(2)," making it a sleazy, break-heavy version with an ominous bassline and hypnotic vocals. Plays at 45.
