Sabo - I would say "the Lab's own Sabo," but he's a world traveler now - returns with four previously unreleased remixes of three up-and-coming NYC bands who bridge the gap between "world" music and electronic pop. Kokolo Afrobeat Orchestra storm the A-side with their (surprise!) afrobeat stylings on "Sabroso," which gets two remixes: a 7+ minute hip-house version from Sabo and longtime collaborator Zeb(1) with live bass, afro guitars and some serious breakbeats, and a dubbed out mix from Sabo(2). Flip features the much hyped Balkan Beat Box with "Digital Monkey(3)," as remixed by Sabo and Uriel (aka BN Loco). The duo turn this one into a fiery baile club bomb with a ragga breakdown. Then Sabo goes solo once more on his "One Love remix" of Pacha Massive's "Pachangueando(4)," a mid-tempo groover with a deep, dubby bassline, long delays, filtered keys and smooth Latin rhymes. Sabo strikes again! Limited to 750 copies. Recommended.
