It sure took awhile, but almost two years later BRP strikes again, retaining that Boogie-Down Bronx Latino vibe they introduced on the first single, but with a decidedly more samba-flavored effort this time. "Deixa Pra La(1)" is an update of a Brazilian classic, often cited down there as one of the first "rap" songs and a huge hit for Jair Rodrigues (twice!) and Elza Soares under its full title "Deixa Isso Pra La." This version utilizes an unidentified female voice cooing the Portuguese lyrics over a slinky bossa-funk groove with a molasses thick bass line. It's not a peak hour scorcher, but this'll add considerable flavor to either the early or later part of the evening. The B-side features two tracks, "Lima Blues(2)" and "Mas Y Mas(3)" which are more conventionally latin-flavored instrumentals, but still pull a subtle bossa tone. The five tracks they've released so far suggest that a Bronx River Pkwy album would be more than interesting- let's hope it happens.
