No Mas and Mike Duzyj(the artist for the Tyson with his pigeons print) have been doing successful collabos for a while now. Welcome their newest spotlight, Stu Ungar. This dude is fucking amazing. A true anti-hero of poker, if you will. Go straight to wikipedia for a full biography, but in short, he's a genius card player from Brooklyn who left to win three World Championship poker games to become a Las Vegas legend. Amazing because he was the underdog in each game, two of which had a 16 year gap between them, which deemed him the nickname "The Comeback Kid." Equally tragic from his addiction to cocaine and his fast lifestyle. The shirt is an illustrated tribute that graces his story on both front and back. Another glorious catch from No Mas. Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini Shirt

The tale of Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini is beautiful enough to make Rocky shed a tear. Being born the Italian-American son of a boxer, he turned out to be quite an astounding fighter in the ring. Determined to undo the disappointments of his father's career, Ray won the hearts of his public with his charisma and his ability to dish out punishment as well as endure it. In 1982 his dream reached a pinnacle when winning the WBA lightweight crown in a first round TKO. Later that night, the words "World Champion" were added to his classic training shirt, marking the proudest moment the Mancini family could call their own. No Mas immortalizes the glory with a perfect reproduction(minus the sweat). Slim fit.

Leon Spinks is a bad muthafucker. He only won eight professional fights before gaining the Heavyweight Championship, so to say he quickly rose to the top is gross understatement. Unfortunately, after losing to Muhammed Ali twice, his fall was just as quick as his rise, and his life of excess came to a abrupt shortcoming. No Mas remembers the his final hurrah by reprinting the same shirt he wore to train for his rematch against Ali. Slim Fit.

This shirt by No Mas digs up another sports artifact, using the logo from the 12" rap single released by that year's champion squad of old time ball players. So the story here is that in the 70s this really rich Chinese dude named Teddy Yip started up a racing team because he had way too much time and money on his hands. He spent loads of cash on F1 cars and poured everything into his team. Only problem was that the team was awful, and only scored 2 points (if you're not an F1 head, that's not a lot) during their entire racing career. This logo is pretty much the best thing they ever did, and it's been reproduced for you here on these nice shirts from No Mas. You're welcome.

Shoeless Joe Jackson Shirt

For those who don't know, Shoeless Joe (along with 7 other players) was accused of throwing the series when the Chicago Blacksocks unexpectedly lost to the Cincinati Reds in the 1919 World Series. He always claimed he was innocent, and Congress even passed a motion that celebrated his career and cleared him of wrong doing. Too bad Congress doesn't have shit to do with baseball. To this day he's still on the ineligible list, and cannot be elected to the hall of fame until he is taken off that list. Night Game, that's when I be peeking at hot girls on Myspace. Just kidding - It's No Mas fool! So you know it's all about sports. The night game they're referring to is the inaugural lights that turned on in June 15th 1938, for the first night game at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. Before that, baseball was mainly a day game. Although, the lights were a big part of the attraction that night, what will forever be remembered was Cincinatti pitcher Johnny Vander Meer's performance who threw his second consecutive no-hitter that night. Rubin Hurricane Shirt

"Pistol shots ring out in the barroom night" - so begins Bob Dylan's epic "Hurricane," and such remains the source of great mystery and controversy in the life of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. The one-time contender for the middle weight crown is far more famous today as having been convicted and then, twenty years later, acquitted for a 1966 triple-murder shooting spree at a bar in Paterson, New Jersey. Passions still run deep about this case, and the fact remains that today the drama of Carter's life outside the ring has almost entirely obscured his achievements inside it.

If you don't know, Bobby Gleason's gym in Brooklyn is legendary for history of training champions. You might have heard of Muhammed Ali, Sugar Ray, Carlos Ortiz, LaMotta, Basilio, etc? It's rich history of fighters stands as a true NY monument to boxing. Since it's located down the street from Lab, one of our bosses Tony caught the bug for a while and was training there(and coming to work with a busted mug). He doesn't take classes anymore. Slim fit.

When you talk dedication to the sport, there were few that experienced the glory like Manolet, Spain's most celebrated bullfighter. Despite his scrawny frame and awkward composure in the ring, he was a master of his own technique and his victories quickly made him rise as an national star. As fervor for the his matches became more intense, he continued to raise the bar with more ferocious matches and closer calls. Unfortunately his fans love for the sport drove him to his fatal match in 1947, where he was gored in front of a frenzied audience.

Here's one tribute from No Mas' "Ecstasy Of Defeat" series, pressed in a limited edition of 250. This one nods to one of Chess' most famous American champion, Bobby Fischer. Dude won the US Championship at 14 and in 1972 he won the World Championship from Russia's Boris Spassky and then came back to win in 1992! The graphic shows his reign from then and now. Too bad he's a fugitive taking asylum to Iceland. Slim fit.

The big bad "Cuba" on the front is the pride of Teofilo Stevenson, one of Cuba's most beloved boxers. Often compared to Ali for his handsome looks and stylish performances in the ring, it was inevitable that he was offered up to 5 million dollars to fight him. Shockingly enough, for the love of his country, he refused. He'll always be remembered by his quote, "What is one million dollars compared to the love of my people?" Seattle Slew Shirt

Most sports fans know something about the horse Seattle Slew - they know that you won the Triple Crown in 1977 and they probably know that he remains the only undefeated Triple Crown winner in history. They may even know of his legendary success as a stud horse, siring such great progeny as A.P. Indy, Slew O' Gold and Swale, who won the Derby and the Belmont in 1982.

But fewer people know the full tale of how this legendary horse-racing diamond was ferreted out of the rough. Never expected to be a dominant racehorse, Seattle Slew was purchased in 1975 by young couple Sally and Jim Hill and two friends - for the price of $17,500. It was an investment they would recoup many, many times over.

In the hang tag picture, Jim Hill holds the reins while his son, Jamie, feeds the horse. Jim is wearing the original version of this t-shirt, which was the official shirt of the Slew Crew, the family and friends of the Hills who gathered to root their unlikely champion on to victory.

Haru Urara Shirt

No Mas once again pays homage to an obscure sports figure as they shed light on the Japanese racehorse Haru-Urara. Adored by millions of fans, this horse shot to fame in the late 90s for enduring a streak of epic proportions. With every loss, her legend grew until a major Tokyo newspaper wrote a piece about the horse, which set off "The Haru-Uharu Boom." Music, movies and hundreds of products bearing her name could all suddenly be found throughout Japan. Haru-Urara continued to race, and lose, until September 2004, when she was officially retired with a record of 0 wins and 113 loses.

Chocolate Thunder Shirt

Chocolate Thunder aka 70/80s era hoops player Daryl Dawkins is best known for his literal backboard-shattering dunks and crazy word play. From Wikipedia: "He broke two backboards in the 1979-80 season: one at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium on November 13, 1979 (which he called "The Chocolate-Thunder-Flying, Glass-Flying, Robinzine-Crying, Babies-Crying, Glass-Still-Flying, Cats-Crying, Rump-Roasting, Bun-Toasting, Thank You-Wham-Bam-I-Am-Jam") and a second backboard 23 days later at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Because his dunks resulted in delays while teams went to find another backboard, the NBA eventually modified their basketball rims to make them collapsible in the event another superstar wanted to emulate Dawkins' dunks. Additional Dawkins dunk names include: In Your Face Disgrace, The Go-rilla, Earthquaker Shaker, Candyslam, Dunk You Very Much, Look Out Below, Yo Mama, Turbo Sexophonic Delight, Rim Wrecker, Greyhound Bus (went coast-to-coast), Cover Your Head, Spine Chiller Supreme, Slam Bam Thank You Maam and Walk Away From Love. His nickname was "Chocolate Thunder", and he claimed to be an alien from planet Lovetron where he spent off-season practicing "interplanetary funkmanship" and where his girlfriend Juicy Lucy still lived.
