I don't really know why we carry this shit, a skate video. I love hip hop and I love skateboarding, but they cannot exist on the same plane, it's just too gay. (Don't believe me check anything having to do with Chad...

Muska, the skateboarding minstrel show). One day I woke up and realized that I'd become so obsessed with this DJ crap that I'd turned my back on my youth, skateboarding (ed. note: get ready for the patented ROC rant). I'm so sick of djs, turntables, idm, disco, hip hop, etc, etc- everywhere I look it's fucking djs, and they almost all suck too. If I have to hear another conversation about digging or library records, I'm gonna go fucking ballistic and kill somebody. So with no desire to practice or go record shopping, I've got plenty of time to skate! Every day I watch the Girl video and then go skate. This is the best video to come out in a long time. It's got something for everybody. Brandon Biebel's got the first part, ripping to a Ghostface instrumental. The super wigga is followed by mega hesher Brian Anderson. Anderson's got hella style and drops hammers skating to Interpol. Marc (best style ever) Johnson sets off the Chocolate section with a bang (fucking Lazer flips!). The rest of the Choc gang catches wreck and NY's own Gino Iannucci puts down possibly the best part of the whole video, wrecking shit to Guns N' Roses. Canadian Rick McCrank rips to Le Tigre, and Boston upstart Jeremy Rogers brings that crazy I haven't graduated high school shit, murdering every gap in sight. Mike Carroll- classic shit. He still rips. And the last part: Eric Koston. Skating to Frank Black, Koston mans up and drops a bigger, better part than Menicmati, possibly his best ever. There's tons more skating, and some clever Spike Jonze skits. The editing is fucking Oscar caliber (check Scott Johnston's part Fame, Fame, Fame). Owen Wilson's cameo is the shit too. The only part that sucks is the Ty Evans homo-erotic techno driven montage, what's up with that guy and techno shit? So far this in the best video of 2003. Get a board and start skating again- fuck learning a new scratch I'm learning new flip tricks!! -The ROC
