Lab Overview

Outsider folk essential. Mike Hurley's debut album was originally released in 1964 on the genuine spirited cultural ambassador label, Folkways Records. The self taught musician offers 12 tracks of personal experiences captured in his rural upbringing. However, sometimes surreal in the pictures painted with his lyrics, Hurley's approach stands in its own universe. Just like many of Folkways recordings have done, the recordings truly capture a part of the American soul and has gone on to influence countless musicians since. To hear Arthur Russell, Kurt Cobain, and Daniel Johnston is to hear Mike Hurley. Mono reissue with gorgeous cover design by Ronald Clyne.
