Lab Overview

Crucial compilation of The Cure's early recordings. Hard to believe The Cure formed in 1976, a time when Punk Rock hadn't fully learned to walk, new wave needed punk rock to happen, and glam rock was coming to an end. Standing On The Beach (called Staring At The Sea on CD) compiled the official singles from the band's early career. For many, the pinnacle and gateway of the band was around the Disintegration years, but their late 70s and early 80s output is truly magnificent in its own right. Essentially the equivalent to New Order's Substance, this is completely filled with hit after hit. The album gets its name from opening track 'Killing An Arab' and is followed up by one of their biggest tunes 'Boys Don't Cry' that sometimes still kills in the right club setting. 'Let's Go To Bed' and 'The Walk' also are present as are 'The Lovecats' and 'The Caterpillar' which both have fun videos. The all time classic 'Close To Me' closes the album and leaves you wanting more.... luckily you have about 20 more years of recorded material to fix your cravings. Back To Black series pressing on 180g vinyl with download coupon. Recommended.
