the patented lab review lab informed suggestions
Dedicated to the memory of his sister that died in a terrible car crash, Morgan Geist's "The Driving Memoirs" is a spiritual journey through a master craftsman's mind. Anyone who's a fan of Carl Craig is instantly going to appreciate the production quality and style of this album. Every track is a gem, with notable choices being "Flat Out", "Linking Tunnel", and "Self Init." So many different styles of techno and house are covered with this album - its almost mind boggling to listen to just how pristine this album is. You'd be pretty hard pressed not to find something you enjoy on this album. Classic Detroit styling of "Highway Hypnosis" ping along and get the body moving, while the moody downbeat electro of "This Too Shall Pass" interweave the mix to make sure you stay grounded. Morgan Geist proves, yet again, that he's a master of the craft, and this could be one of his finest moments, preceding other classics of his like Metro Area's "Miura" and nu-disco burner "Epoch." Highly recommended.
