Score! If you missed out on Professor Genius' super limited self-titled album from 2007, consider this your second chance. After releasing a couple 12"s on Disques Sinthomme and Italians Do It Better, it's obvious that New Jersey's Jorge Velez (aka Professor Genius) is the real deal when it comes to this italo disco business. The sound on this album is so authentic, it's as if the Professor took his time machine to the late 70's-early 80's italo heyday, created some tracks, then transported them back to the present for the whole new disco revival. I seriously feel a Giorgio 'stache growing the more I listen to it. I would recommend picking up the whole album (it's that good!), but if your gonna get singles, check these out: "La Grotta" and "Notti Bianche" with the driving arpeggiated groove, "Orange Coco" with the mean vocoder action, "Across The Spree" with the ethereal cosmic synth work, and "The Sound Of Love" and "Night Games" featuring the sick analog bass. Choice stuff.
