As if Carl Craig's remixes weren't enough, Honest Jon's gives another producer a crack at Tony Allen's Afrobeat burner, "Kilode." And, to the surprise of nobody, Waajeed wrecks shop. No heavy Detroit drums on this rework(1), just some jazzy percussion, atmospheric keys, noodling guitar loops and a sweet, sweet vocal from Zaki Ibrahim. The included instrumental gives some extra insight into the ex-Piper's thoughtful production. On the flip, a decidedly more spaced-out and grooving dub(2).
