Good to see these guys doing their thing. Brooklyn based collective Bastard Jazz have been plugging away at the parched domestic downtempo scene with relative success. This is their 4th release and features some high profile collaborations. First up, a dreamy remix of Mujaji's "Siempre" by Tru Thoughts' Jon Kennedy. Excellent bedside stuff here, I want a 30 minute version of this for my morning routine. Next up, a remix of Cordovan's "Magma" by the downtempo scene's latest star duo Adventure Time (Frosty and Daedulus). Once again, top creative stuff from them, with quirks in every measure. Don't overlook the originals as well, "Magma" is the straight downtempo dosage with hard edged drum set and heavy bass overtones. "Siempre" features sitar flair with abstracted female vocal accents.
