Remix albums are not only usually just a quick cash-in on a hot band, but pretty dodgy in quality - but you know Vice wouldn't do you dirt! Even a couple years after the fact, these remixes of tracks from Bloc Party's big debut LP sound great, and in retrospect it featured a lot of names that are now NAMES. M83, DFA1979, Four Tet, Erol Alkan, Ladytron, Whitey and Mogwai all turn in remixes, and it's a credit to Bloc Party that their songs can sound good when put in almost any context. (Plus, after taking a few years off from listening to that Phones edit of "Banquet," I'm hooked on it all over again. Erol Alkan's "She's Hearing Voices" and Death From Above's "remix" of "Luno" are also highly recommended.
