Jotto Jotto Digi-EP
new rock from Boy Genius' friends from college
|
the lab review
Some of my favorite memories in Philly? Crushing Yuengling beers and rocking out at a live Jotto show at the Khyber. I went to college with these guys so I've seen this indie/rock band develop over the years. From starting out providing live music in the basements of college house parties to performing at the illest underground venues, Jotto now boasts a respectable following, proof in the growing crowds in both Philly and NYC. The E.P, their debut studio release, is a very sound and solid collection of music, intelligently composed and brilliantly written. I am ecstatic to see that the album carries the same electricity as their live set. I hate going to dull local indie shows and seeing a hundred hipsters just sway. Totally opposite with a Jotto crowd, I swear, when they perform, hipsters get some James Brown in their feet. There's something wrong with you if you can't move to Kristian's drums and Dan's guitar rifts on "Future" (my personal favorite track) or Matt's keys poured over an ill bass line and drum work on "The Girl Who's Seen Too Much", or if you can't feel Aaron's strong vocals on "Young In The City". Download the shit, if you don't approve, Boy Genius will refund you with complementary Yuengling at their next show. Support these guys, and check them out at: myspace.com/jottomusic
