bmore, both original cuts and remixes

Philly's Emynd has been releasing his own bmore tracks on his Cross Faded Bacon label for a few years, but now he's taking things to the next level with this EP from Scott Matelic. Matelic's stuff is right in line with the heat we've been getting from CFB for years - lots of hype anthems and remixes. Check out the title track, which cuts up vocal samples from Slick Rick and The Notorious B.I.G. over some classic sounding Bmore horns. Emynd lends a house remix to that one, and OGs Scottie B and King Tutt take a turn as well. The original tracks shine here though, check out the double time claps on "Hype" or Scott's bass-filled remix of "Spottieottiedopaliscious" (which comes in both hype and instrumental flavors). Finally, be sure to check out his stripped down version of Marvin Gaye's "Grapevine," which is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Nine tracks total, recommended.

Sweet compilation of soul remixes inna bmore style from Philly's Emynd. Soul and bmore go together like PB & J, and I'm glad to see that Emynd is keeping the tradition alive and well. Experienced DJs know that these type of jams ALWAYS work to get the crowd amped. Whether its hood kids, hipsters, your standard stripe shirt club goer or even a wedding party, you'll be getting hands up and ass bouncing in no time. It's definitely cool to get a re-up like this. 6 tracks total, all fire. Recommended.

Ridin' High Vol. 1 Digi-EP

Baltimore Club remixes & originals

Six new Bmore burners from Kazey & Bulldog. "It's Alright(1)" leads things off with a chopped up James Brown remix, and is followed by baile funk master DJ Sandrinho's remix of "Sweet Harmony(2)," which is a hyperactive party break featuring Tag Team's "Party Peeeeople!" chant and some heavy funk carioca drum loops. The A-Side gets wrapped up with thumping edit of DJ Khaled's shout-rap hit "I'm So Hood(3)." On the flip you'll find "Big Truck II(4)," which is constructed from the horns from "Simon Says" and snippets of the "Apache" break, followed by "Fo Da Real Gs(5)," which is an old school style Bmore track featuring plenty of gunshots, synth horns and "what!" chants. Finally, there's "We Ballin'(6)," which is a remix of a T-Pain song about... well, ballin'. Six tracks total, solid production all around.

Dave Nada
Apocalyspe Digi-EP

bmore, electro and even a little minimal techno

Round two from Nada and T&A, this one features some seriously dark bmore/electro/tech hybrids. "Apocalypse Theme" is full of break beats, vacuum synths and a Misfits vocal sample that unleashes hell in the middle of the track. Dubstep maestros 12th Planet and Fitch jump on the remix for that one, adding some wobble-wobble bass and syncopated drums to keep things moving. "Drummer's Rock" edges a bit closer to traditional Bmore territory, featuring synth horns and a vocal sample from Kanye's "Good Life." For the last track, Nada enlists his production partner Matt Nordstrom to remix "Inner Midget," and together they turn it into a nice grooving, minimal track. Four tracks total, muy recommendo.

Whoa, a massive LP full of fresh Dubstep, Electro, Juke and Ghetto Tech from Chicago's Chrissy Murderbot! Mr. Murderbot really runs the gamut here, incorporating lots of styles into his tracks and drawing on his Chicago roots for inspiration. On top of that, MC Zulu, Miles Bonny, Tha Basix, Scream Club, and Hawatha Hurd all stop in for guest appearances as well. 12 tracks total.

bmore, hip hop and juke tracks featuring young rappers

Aaron Lacrate luh da kids! On this fresh EP, LaCrate and partner Debonair Samir worked with a group of young (like, real young, not like Yung Joc), aspiring rappers and the end result is a great EP filled with Bmore club, southern rap and juke styles. At times, the whole thing kind of sounds like an awesome alternate dimension version of Sesame Street, and if you ever play a gig for little kids this is a no brainer. 8 tracks total.
