The Gaslamp Killer put me onto these beats, so you know it's gotta be good. He played it at our LA store, and I knew it was something special. Whereas most Indian influenced beats sound like loops from Bollywood records hastily pasted on top of some hip-hop drums, these tracks sound as if they were crafted in Moombai by a rich dude (made his money in tech customer service) with a full beatmaking studio and a cache of studio musicians. Checkout the raw head bang of "The Arrival," the odd disco mutant "This Is Breakdance," the undeniable groove of "Bellyful of Dharma," the otherworld drum patterns of "At The Hookah With Herbie," and the downtempo sensation "East Meets West." 19 tracks very deep. Recommended.
