As Environ label head and half of Metro Area, Morgan Geist has gained quite a reputation for putting out quality electronic disco. His latest solo full length effort Double Night Time comes to us more than a decade after 1997's The Driving Memoirs and is another a great addition to his discography. Throughout the album Geist is able to combine sophisticated disco with 80's synth work, italo sensibilites, and deep Detroit vibes to create hard to resist dance music for late nite people. Check the single Detroit for a perfect example of this style combined with Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys adding just the right emotive element with his soft vocal stylings. The Shore is another killer example of this combo, this time with an awesome boogie bassline and sweet syncopated drums. Tracks like the Nocebo with its relaxing balearic mood, and Ruthless City show Geist can slow it down as well as heat it up. In addition, a couple oldies but goodies make appearances on the album as well, like Most Of All and the sleeper banger Lullaby . 9 tracks total. Recommended.
