Alexander Robotnick
Obsession For The Disco Freaks (Nacho Lovers, Li'll Bo Tweak) Digi-EP
new track from legendary disco producer, hype remixes
Label debut for legendary disco producer Alexander Robotnick on Fool's Gold Recs! "Obsession For The Disco Freaks" has been making noise in the digital realm for a minute now, and now the track finally sees a 12" vinyl release. The veteran producer seems to ramps up his classic italo style with pumping house drums, tough 303 bass, and high energy synth lines that will drive the dancefloor into a frenzy. A dope, versatile sound that'll cross over with house, disco, and techno. The Nacho Lovers take a stab at the remix with swirling arpeggios and a deep drums and sub-bass for the late night rave freaks, while Freeform Five opt for more of a dark and dirty warehouse style for their remix(3). Really feeling the Li'll Bo Tweak remix with its live feeling drums and hypnotic synth layers that create a strong, easy-to-feel groove. Recommended.

A-Trak
Dirty South Dance Remixes Digi-EP
unmixed rap-dance blends from Fool's Gold honcho
The unmixed companion to A-Trak's Dirty South Dance mix is here. First off, Unk goes up against The Gossip for "Walk It Out Trizz(1)," then the Clipse and Slim Thug pop bottles in Paris with Alex Gopher on "Wampercycle." Not sure of the source beat for "Frenchies Act A Fool," but Lil Jon and Three 6 have never sounded so Euro. Also not sure if M.I.A.'s "XR2" will end up on her album, but it's on here ("MIA-roder"), blended with - you guessed it - some sweet Italo beats. Recommended.

Congorock
Runark (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) Digi-EP
italian rave-influence club music, hype
LAB PRE-ADVANCE EXCLUSIVO! Congorock is part of a new breed of Italian producers (Congorock, Bloody Beetroots) making hyped-up, hybrid club music. His particular tunes might be the most ravey of the bunch - 2 Bad Mice-y breakbeats, ghetto house stomp and heavy blasts of synths. "Runark" is his intense dancefloor debut on Fool's Gold. The 8 bit anthem comes backed with an amazingly prog-y extended remix from labelmates Jokers Of The Scene, as well as two more originals "Exodus" (is that Busta chopped up?) and "Hybro." Heat all around, reccomended!

Crookers
What Up Y'all (Seiji, DJ Gant-Man, Kid Cudi) Digi-EP
electro with huge remixes
After blowing-the-fuck-up with their remix of Kid Cudi's "Day 'N Nite," Crookers and Fool's Gold are back at it with a full length EP from the Italian duo. "What's Up Y'all," yet another electro jackhammer that features up and comer Izza Kizza on the hook. There's been lots of hype floating around for this one, I wouldn't be surprised if it blows up with all the kids in neon. "Knobbers" features their signature electro/bmore sound combo, and also gets a remix from Fool's Gold alum DJ Gant-Man. UK brokenbeat star Seiji contributes two remixes here, in both booty-bass and acid flavors, their collabo with Kid Cudi, "Embrace The Martian." The original version of that track, which is also included, was originally featured on Kid Cudi's A Kid Named Cudi mixtape. Six tracks total, recommended.

DJ Gant-Man
Juke Dat Girl Digi-EP
Chicago Juke with dance remixes
I JUKE DAT GIRL FROM THE BACK. I JUKE DAT GIRL FROM THE BACK. I JUKE DAT GIRL FROM THE BACK! Yep, it's DJ Gant-Man bringing the real Chicago Juke sound on Fool's Gold Recs. Can't help but wanna get up and shake it after listening to the stripped down, yet uber-bouncey drums and hypnotic hook. Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom give it a hype make-over that would sound at home on Dubsided, while Greenmoney goes for a hype global sound. Sure to make 'em move. Instrumental included for the OG.

Four Color Zack & Pretty Titty
Sing Sing Breaks Digi-EP
quick n dirty bmore/rave party breaks
The Pacific Northwest duo of Four Color Zack and Pretty Titty prove that it's not the size of the ship, it's the motion of the ocean on their new EP of fast and dirty party breaks for Fool's Gold. These tracks all clock in around two minutes, but they'll leave you feeling like you just absorbed a cannon blast of glitter and confetti to the chest. On his side, Zack pits Electric Light Orchestra against Trillville on "FCZ x ELO" and takes it back to Jock Jams days on "Boom." Speaking of 90s stadium jernts, Mr. Titty incorporates some C&C with Gorilla Zoe's "Hood N*gga" on "JB RIP" and revs up some instantly recognizable synths on "Droppin It." FGR-011, if yer counting...

Jokers Of The Scene
Acid Bagg Digi-EP
raving acid house bangers from Canada
Second EP on Fool's Gold from those beat-loving Canadians in Jokers of the Scene, DJ Booth and Chameleonic. Picking up on an even rave-ier tip than where "Y'all Know The Name" left off, "Baggy Bottom Boys" is a buzzing, pumping acid house affair - a true new rave epic if I've ever heard one. "Acidrod" goes off on a more minimal and (surprise!) acidic tip with a nod to Nate Dogg / Dre / Axelrod, then gets fitted with some Parisian thump courtesy of Brodinski. Also includes a nasty Destroy Disco remix, and a digital exclusive "DZ Ravestep mix" of "Baggy Bottom Boys." So recommended.

Jokers Of The Scene
Baggy Bottom Boys Remixes (High Contrast, DZ, Rob Threezy) Digi-EP
big electro single gets even bigger remixes
Hot and crusty batch of remixes of the Jokers' big Fools Gold single "Baggy Bottom Boys." They tapped some pretty big names from a wide spectrum of dance music, including drum and bass maestro High Contrast, rising dubstep star DZ and Chicago house producer Rob Threezy (aka Rob3). But wait, that's not all! JOTS also included their own remix of their track, which leads it away from Electroland into Techno Valley. On top of all that, you get the original version and the Pianopella, which is a great mixing tool. Six tracks total.

Jokers Of The Scene
Y'all Know The Name (Flosstradamus) Digi-12
massive dance bombs utilizing "Simon Says" and "Jiggle It"
Canadian selectors-turned-producers Jokers of the Scene (aka DJ Booth & Chameleonic) drop a bomb for their debut single with "Y'all Know The Name," a massive club re-work of Pharoahe Monch's "Simon Says" that's been getting played by everyone from MSTRKRFT to Annie Mac, Sinden to DJ AM. After turning in varied remixes for DJ Blaqstarr, Brodinski and vitaminsforyou, this one firmly establishes the JOTS sound: huge build ups, distorted bass and full on rave-age. Speaking of rave monsters - if that's your thing, wait'll you hear the Flosstradamus remix. (I'm writing this on a Monday morning and it definitely just woke me the fuck up.) Equally intense but slightly less abrasive is Nacho Lovers' remix with its rolling techno bass, stuttered samples and squelchy effects. Also on wax for the first time is JOTS' "Juggle It," a shape-shifting Young Leek remix which was getting love last year from Diplo and some of the usual suspects. This digital single also features the William Russell remix of "Juggle It" which was not on the vinyl version. Look for more from these dudes on Fool's Gold rill soon.

Kid Cudi
Day 'N' Nite (Crookers Remix) Digi-12
outstanding remix of Cudi's debut single
Crookers bring the heat with hands down the finest remix of Kid Cudi's debut single - a bumping, Bmore-influenced house stormer with bouncing bass for days and alarms sounding off like it's Lost and the hatch is 'bout to implode. I'm gonna go LeVar Burton on this one and say don't take my word for it... just click the sample and you'll be convinced. Definitely recommended.

Kid Cudi
Day 'N' Nite (JOTS Remix) Digi-12
debut single from this spacey cleveland/brooklyn mc
I'm actually kinda glad this single has taken so long to drop: "Day N Nite" was one of my favorite songs of 2007, but since it's not officially released until... well, right now, I can put it at the top of my 2008 lists too! Cudi, along with his man Dot Da Genius on the beat, has crafted one of the best slo-mo stoner rap anthems in recent memory. Not to be outdone, Cudi's labelmate's Jokers of the Scene get this one prepped for the dancefloor with their surging raved out remix. The flip features another slumper, "Dat New New," with a nice flow from Cudi and guitar loop / wet drums beat by Dot. This might be my favorite release on Fool's Gold yet. Includes instrumentals for both tracks, plus dirty and clean mixes for "Dat New New." Recommended.

Kid Sister
Control (A-Trak & XXXchange) Digi-12
debut release on a-trak + catchdub's fools gold
Debut release from A-Trak & Nick Catchdubs' new label, FOOL'S GOLD! It's also the long-awaited (and I mean LONG-AWAITED) on-record debut of Chicago's Kid Sister, who's been building hype in a way we haven't seen since that one girl a couple years ago. Kid Sis has been touring both coast-to-coast and international style, showing up on "CRAZY HOT ARTISTS TO WATCH IN 2007" type lists all over the place and even landing on the cover of URB with Flosstradamus. (And yes, she and J2K are really brother and sister.) Spank Rock's XXXchange provides the beat for "Control," and it's monstrous - a real squelchy electro beast with panning bass and a killer hook with Kid Sis & Young Josh trading lines back and forth. Can't say enough good things about this track, so I'm just gonna stop and let you check the sample. On the flip, A-Trak flips a clever sample for the perpetually percolating "Damn Girl." Kid Sis has personality for days - every line just dripping with that SASS - and Trizzy's expert scratching adds that intangible something extra. But the sleeper here will be DJ Gant-Man's remix of "Damn Girl," repping Chicago extra hard with that juke style. The whole thing comes in a glossy, full-color pic sleeve with artwork by Dust La Rock. Includes dirty, clean and instrumental versions of "Control," as well as main, instrumental and "scratchapella" versions for "Damn Girl." Highly recommended.

Kid Sister
Pro Nails (feat. Kanye West) Digi-EP
female rap produced by A-trak + featuring Kanye
GOT HER TOES DONE UP WITH HER FINGERNAILS MATCHIN'! This is the one, the jam everyone's been asking after since it showed up on Kanyeezee's last mixtape. The A-Trak produced "Pro Nails" is dope enough on its own, but the remix has the extra hot sauce with Kanye talking about Hammer Pants and being on Concrete Loop in his PJs. Oh yeah and can all the haters please sit down now and acknowledge that Kid Sis is MEAN on the mic? If "Pro Nails" doesn't convince you, flip over to "Switch Board" and check her spitting at juke speeds. DJ Gant-Man - whose remix of "Damn Girl" even eclipsed the original - puts down the hype beat and even gets on the mic for the assist: "COCA COLA SHAPE WITH A ONION IN THE BACK!" Quotables for days all over this record, plus dirty, clean and instrumental versions for "Pro Nails" and dirty / instrumental for "Switch Board." Highly recommended.

Kid Sister
Pro Nails - Super High Shine Digi-EP
female emcee on the rise with new remixes
Didn't think it could get any more infectious than the original "Pro Nails," but this o-fficial single release (Kid Sis' first on Downtown- big things) features a straight whomper of a remix from the Bag Raiders! It takes a minute to build up at syrupy half speed, but once those big toms, bubbling electronics and super high gloss Braxe/Falke synths take over, it's lights out. (Then they REALLY kick it into high gear for the end...) The other remix keeps it closer to home, with Chi-Town's own Gant-Man going for less juking, more jacking. He also provides the beat for B-side "Switch Board." Unfortunately only the clean version of the Kanye-guesting "Pro Nails" is provided, but hey... you can still get it on the 12"...

Malente
I Like It (Riva Starr, Mikix The Cat) Digi-EP
house and electro versions of an infamous KC & The Sunshine Band track
New electro heat from our homies over at Fools Gold! "I Like It" is built on a sample of KC & The Sunshine Band's infamous wedding tune (well, I guess most of their stuff is default wedding fodder at this point). Malente's version drops the intro sample just long enough for the crowd to recognize it before launching into a blistering electro interpolation. Riva Starr brings things closer to disco house territory, chopping the original sample into staccato stabs, while Mikix The Cat summons some massive basslines for a fidgety electro version. Fantastic production all around, recommended.

Nacho Lovers
Acid Life / Go On Digi-EP
Detroit- and Chicago-influenced acid sounds with great remixes
Digital advance of this upcoming release from Fool's Gold. Nacho Lovers is the nom du dancefloor of Andrew Ross and Scott Seewhale, a pair of Torontonians who first bonded over a shared love of classic Chicago house and Detroit techno. These days, they're crafting some acidic, synth-draped dance neo-classics of their own, and their first official release for A-Trak and Catchdubs' imprint is already turning heads. (They just got off the mega Fool's Gold Remixed tour with a whole slew of their labelmates.) Whether it's the chuggling, hyper-repetitive throb of "Acid Life," the jagged, soul-sampling "Go On," or one of the excellent remixes they got here - might I suggest DJ Eli / Eli Escobar's Bmore-ified take on "Acid Life?" - there's some serious heat for your winter crate contained herein. Also includes a remix from label homies and fellow Canadians Jokers of the Scene and an exclusive digital-only 909 dub. Recommended.

Sammy Bananas
Braids & Fades Digi-EP
90s classics reworked
DJ/producer/saxophonist Samuel "P.Nice" Bananas returns to the Fool's Gold fold with his second batch of ultra useful edits and remixes. Whereas the instantly-sold-out High Top Fades EP covered the 80s, Braids & Fades moves forward in time and finds young Sam reworking some classic 90s jams. On the A, it's Jomanda's "Got A Love For You" getting a Bmore overhaul on "Work Me" and Salt N Pepa's "Shoop" chopped up over sublime squelching bass on "Get Set Go." Flip it over for "Ooh Bop" - an En Vogue rework, my favorite and the most instantly recognizable of the four joints - and "Ladies." Chalk another one up for the Fool's Gold team.

Sammy Bananas
High Top Fades Digi-EP
uptempo 90's party reworks from one half of Certified Bananas
As one half of the DJ duo Certified Bananas, Sammy Bananas has been bringing his style-swapping dancefloor mania to crowds around the country for the past few years. Now, he's linked up with A-Trak & Catchdubs' Fool's Gold label and is branching out into producing club jams of his own. On High Top Fades, young Sammy melds the spirit of his DJ sets into four imaginative, uptempo reworks of 90s dancefloor classics. He transforms "Here Comes The Hotstepper" into a 126 BPM bassline monster ("Tha Stepper") perfect for mixing with the likes of Diplo and Switch. K7's jock jam "Come Baby Come" gets doused in rocket fuel ("K7 Baby"), and the Fresh Prince's perennial "Summertime" is turned into the off-kilter banger "Summer Bounce." Sam proves here that creative production can still be infinitely crowd pleasing. These mixes are gonna be huge from now until the NEXT 90s revival.

Trackademicks
Enjoy What You Do / Topsidin (Flosstradamus, Sammy Bananas) Digi-EP
Fool's Gold debut from the Bay Area rapper/producer
Highly anticipated Fool's Gold debut from Bay Area rapper/producer Trackademicks. Trackademicks has been making waves for years via mixtapes, remixes and original productions so it's about damn time he got some official shine. "Enjoy What You Do" is an uptempo Bay Area slapper, that sounds like a hip-house track dipped in hyphy sauce. Flosstradamus step up to the remix plate, injecting some rave juice into the original by adding big synth stabs and stuttered vocals. Trackademicks' label mate Sammy Bananas brings a little disco into the picture with an old funk break and some seriously big basslines. The single also features "Topsidin," a more subdued hip-hop track, built on a moderate tempo from layered ethereal synths. Also included is the clean version for "Enjoy What You Do" and instrumentals for both tracks. Recommended.

Treasure Fingers
Cross the Dancefloor Digi-EP
irresistible disco house bomb from Fool's Gold
LET ME SEE YOU MOVE IT SHAKE IT CROSS THE DANCE FLOOR. If you haven't heard this hook yet, it's only a matter of time till it's looping in head on constant repeat. The catchy as hell hook and production on this groover is thanks to Mr. Treasure Fingers from Atlanta who skillfully combines roller boogie vibes with modern production tactics for an irresistible dancefloor bomb. Of course you get a nice selection of remixes from the likes of and Brooklyn's resident bass monster Curses!, but really it's all about the original on this one. Also included is the handy Shake-A-Pella for crafty DJs and producers. Recommended.
