If you were quick to cop the Burial CD, you already know about this unique brand of dubstep. For everyone else, let me break it down for you: while most producers in the genre opt for neck breaking drums and squelching bass, Burial kills you softly with melodic ambience, soft vocal samples and delicate drum programming that takes your head for a spin. Just checkout "Gutted" and "Distant Lights." Not exactly for the dancefloor, but beautiful in that introspective, "walking in the rain" kind of way. Also features the Kode 9 remix of "Distant Lights," which puts the neck-snap back into the beat with a driving bassline that keeps things moving. Get in the mood and this stuff can get you feeling real ethereal. Think of this as deep space astral travel music.
