the patented lab review lab informed suggestions
Here's the full length vision of the very eclectic dancefloor dub stylings of Zeb. Although he makes every song on his own, he sounds like a full 1970s afrobeat band in "Revolutionary Dreams," or an 80s disco-funk group from Nigeria on "Afro Disco." Then checkout "Bauls of NY;" I am no expert but that sounds like the real deal Indian-Gypsy funk. He flips it again with "No Matter What They Say," a song that starts out sounding like a jazzy house track, but eventually turns into that mega-exotic dub gumbo thing. Is there anyone better than Zeb at this kind of thing? The second half of the album continues to travel deeper into the weeds... "Felakesh" jumps right into a refreshing pool of influences with some dubby broken afrobeat sensibilities that'll get Bogdan doing the Romanian snap dance. "Mashalla" keeps the sound diverse within the world of Zeb's soft yet edgy compositions. This one will definitely cause gyrations and imitations of Madonna's "Frozen" video. Remember when she got all Eastern? You can still drop any of his stuff in a spot and people will be checking for what this sound is that they haven't experienced before. Not too many artists you can say that about at this point. If you heard "Disco Patel" one in the club late at night, I'd be on some "don't disturb this groove" status. In fact, that's how I'm feeling right now and I'm in the office surrounded by dudes. Just imagine the power of this in a dimly lit location. The album ends with several tracks never featured on 12", call these your secret weapons. Recommended.
