Wonderwheel Recordings keeps 'em coming with their 7th release featuring the dynamic, Italian espresso drinking duo Marzebian (aka DJ Mariano of Turntables on the Hudson and Zeb the Pleb). "Chi Che" sets off this EP with a downtempo heady track, complete with moody strings, middle-eastern sounding vocals, and a heavy percussive dub-like rhythm. "Che Lingua" is a super funky latin breakbeat number, which I've already seen blow up the dancefloor deep in the hull of the Frying Pan each Friday night. With some salsa-type chants, luscious guitar work by Zeb, a groovy bass line and the hard percussive break beat, you cannot help but move to this one. Next up you get the hip hop song "Hip Hope" featuring MC Nerve Rank. Using catchy samples of little kids and a dubby beat, Nerve Rank spits a meaningful message. Nickodemus, label owner and fellow TOTH resident DJ, takes us straight to the Middle Eastern smoke shop with his Calcutta Cassette remix of "Hip Hope". This mix fuses middle eastern sounds with a classic '90s-sounding beat and steady bass line. Also included is a short bonus beat with more cuts.
