About damn time... It's the long-promised debut EP from this much hyped duo, formerly linked to the Fool's Gold bandwagon and now riding with Chocolate Industries. Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks are two Chicagoans who've made a name for themselves among the new crop of Chi-Town artists (Kid Sis, Flosstradamus, etc.) by pairing their swagger-filled verses with deceptively simple throwback-sounding beats. "88" is anchored by cavernous drums and distorted guitar stabs, but the Kids throw in enough fake-out beat changes to keep you guessing. (Not to mention they interpolate the baffling combo of Nas and Men Without Hats.) "Mikey Rocks" makes things even more minimal, sounding like a skeletal Neptunes demo as Mikey brags hard with stuff like "I don't use bad grammar, so please excuse this / I'm just tryin' to let n***as know who I is." Also includes "What It Iz" and the NWA-sampling "Gold And A Pager." 10 tracks total.
