OVERVIEW Numark's entry level mixer, and the only truly digital mixer at this price range. It includes all the necessary features usually found on higher priced models including 3-band eq for each channel, quality faders, cross fader curve and reverse controls, and a...   expand review  master output headphone preview. The DMX01 also features some impressive digital features. Firstly, the 24 bit digital sound processor offers quality output with no additional noise (most mixers emit a level of hiss) for a cleaner sound. The DMX01 also features Numark's D-Type digital fader, the same one found on the higher priced PPD-01. Although it is not the top fader on the market, it's comfortably above average in terms of smoothness and durability. Lastly, what makes this mixer unique at this price range are the strong EQs, capable of "killing" each channel (ie. removing the bass/treble/mid from a song). In addition, there is a separate Sub Bass control that allows you to increase the intensity of the bass channel even further. Overall, this is an excellent mixer for beginner and intermediate users. With the addition of the USB ports, we would recommend this any level dj who wants computer connectivity. A lot of value for your money here. USB UPDATE: The DMX01 has been updated with dual USB ports. With the USB input, you can mix songs played by your computer. With the USB output you can record your mixes (or any input on the computer) into your computer (recording software needed). All file formats are accepted and no drivers are needed.

OVERVIEW Stanton continues to up the standards of their entry-level mixers with the M.202 mixer. This features the new look and sturdy build of their M-series, with features that will make this an optimal choice for beginners and those using CD turntables. FEATURES The M.202...   expand review  has the standard 2 channel set up with 2 phono, 2 line and 1 microphone input. The main channels each feature a powerful 3 band EQ (-26/+9) which effectively isolates each frequency, while the mic channel has a 2 band EQ (+/-10) for adjusting vocals. The crossfader is not specifically designed for scratching, but it does feature curve adjustment so scratching is not a problem. For users with compatible CD players, the M.202 has "fader start" capability which allows you to cue up a cd by moving the crossfader. It features all of the requirements that scratch djs have come to expect in higher-end mixers, such as reverse and curve control on all...   expand review  faders, plus quite a few useful additions, at a very competitive sub $200 cost. These include curve adjustment and reverse control for all three faders, a mic input with gain and mute control, master / cue monitoring (you can scratch in the headphones), and rotatable phono / line switches. A major plus is the layout which is clean and intuitive with no unwanted clutter. The crossfader isn't as high performance as the Penny & Giles fader on more expensive Stanton mixers, but it is much more durable, clean and precise than Stanton's regular crossfaders. The features that set it apart from most similarly priced mixers are a powerful 3 band eq (-26/+9 db), ¼" balanced outputs in addition to standard RCA outs, dual headphone jacks for both plug sizes, and mute switches for both the headphones and the master output. OUR OPINION For this price range, The SA-3 is one of the most solid mixers available for under $200. OVERVIEW Vestax has brought back this classic line of affordable club / installation dj mixers, with this being your entry level piece. The DSM-360 is a three channel mixer with all the basic functions that you need in the club- quite a bit...   expand review  more effective than your standard $150 mixer. Like all the mixers in the DSM series, this isn't recommended if your priority is scratching, but it's a fine mixer for anybody looking to step up their selector game. FEATURES The DSM-360's main draw is its club functionality. Not only do you have the option of 6 line inputs, 2 phono inputs and 2 mic inputs, you also get semi-professional features like XLR outs in addition to standard RCA, and a booth output with level control and 2 band EQ. These things are all essential for club use. The mic inputs include XLR on the mixer face (mic 1) and ¼" on the back (mic 2), with 3 band EQ for mic 1, level controls for both and a talkover switch. The EQs on this mixer are also quite impressive. You have 3 bands for each channel (knob controlled), with a range of hi -10dB / +8dB, mid -10dB / +20dB, low -30dB / + 15dB. In addition to the 3 EQs, you also get balance and trim control on both channels. The crossfader is pretty much like your standard mid-90s fader, there's no curve adjustment and the feeling is a bit rough, but they are Vestax VMC faders, which have a fairly quick cut in time and should last longer than your standard entry level stuff. Bottom line is that you can cut with this mixer- and it will sound good- but strictly the basics, and if you're really concerned about scratching, you're looking at the wrong mixer. OUR OPINION This mixer is perfect for people who are mainly concerned with mixing records and having an effective mixer to use in the club. The XLR outs means your sound will be bumping, the 2 mic ins give you crowd control, and the booth output lets you monitor the sound. It's all basic stuff, but these features are not usually included on $150 mixers. The EQs are also really effective, and with the number of input options here, most people should be all set. -the mgmnt

OVERVIEW Vestax's 06-Pro is a proven 2-channel mixer with a slim profile and high quality VCA crossfader and components. The 06-Pro has been a Vestax bestseller for over 10 years because of its price, profile, and straight-forwardness. FEATURES The 06-Pro is a basic 2-channel (2...   expand review  phono + 2 line inputs) mixer designed with the active DJ in mind (scratch + mixing). It features a very slim design (designed by Shortkut of ISP) to bring the distance between your tables to a minimum. This is especially helpful for trick mixing and juggling. It features a replaceable CF-PCV crossfader with curve control, which is the same high quality fader used in higher priced models. It was also the first mixer to introduce the innovative "hamster switch" that allows you to reverse the channel inputs to suit your scratch preference. Basic features include a 2-band EQ as well as gain and pan on each channel as well as replaceable volume faders and multi-directional input (transformer) switch. There is no mic input. OUR OPINION If you're looking to purchase a quality dj mixer on a budget, you can't get much better than the 06 in terms of reliability and value. The lack of a mic channel and mid-channel EQ would be the only minuses, but its over quality, unique design and clean layout more than make up for those. -the mgmnt
