Audio-Technica offers a great range of both dj and listening headphones, including their new line of Japanese imports. In general, their headphones are designed with a unique look, and are a bargain in terms of both durability + sound quality.
OVERVIEW
Audio-Technica enters the noise-canceling market with the smartly designed and strategically-priced ATH-ANC7. Compared to the similar Bose models, the ATH-ANC7 is considerably more inexpensive (Bose start at $299.00), features more noise reduction, and works in passive mode when the batteries run...
expand review out (Bose models simply shut off). Audio-Technica's great headphone design is also reflected here, with a sleek and durable design, excellent sound quality, a deluxe carrying case, and all the necessary adaptors.
FEATURES
The ATH-ANC7 effectively reduces background noise up to 85% (up to 20 dB). One battery will provide approximately 40 hours of noise-cancellation; and once the battery runs out of power, the ATH-ANC7 will still perform in passive mode. The ATH-ANC7 maintains high quality sound with closed-back style, 40 mm drivers with neodymium magnet systems for deeper bass, extended treble and higher fidelity. When not in use, the ATH-ANC7 folds flat and includes a deluxe traveling case and 3 adaptors (right angle extension, headphone jack, and airplane jack). -mgmnt

As a company, Audio Technica built their reputation on superior microphone construction, but their headphone line also has quite a bit to offer. These are their top of the line headphones. They have been specifically designed for studio use, but will work...

Construction
As with everything we've seen from Audio Technica, the ATH-D40's feature a well-thought out construction that satisfies the need for both durability and comfort. The earphones are the swivel-type, with a single exit cord. The cord itself is uncoiled and features a protective metal sheath to limit the possibility of breaking. As for the comfort, the earpieces will cover your whole ear with a snug (but not too tight) fit and the top band features thick foam cushioning.
Sound
The ATH-D40's are specifically designed to have an enhanced bass response for the lower frequencies, which makes them quite useful for club-oriented music. They feature 40mm drivers which are louder than you may expect. Sony V700s are listed at 50mm, but these are right there. These headphones block out most outside noise with their cupping ear piece design, which also helps to provide a more defined sound.
Our Opinion
These are a viable option to other headphones in the same price range like the Technics DJ-1200 and Sony V700. From testing, the sound is very comparable to those headphones and could be even better in some respects. Big plus in the feel department. User replaceable parts are also a big plus. They aren't as flashy as some of the above-mentioned headphones, but not everybody needs flash. -the mgmnt
These are Audio Technica's entry level headphones, and it appears that entry level for them is miles above anybody else's definition. To begin with, the construction is as solid as you would expect from a much more expensive set, and unlike similarly...
expand review priced models, these feel like you could actually take them out to gigs without fear of breaking them. The phones are connected to the headset via two sturdy metal rods rather than the usual plastic, and connected with actual metal screws. In terms of comfort, these have a high rating. The earpieces fit snug and easy and the headband is thick and heavily padded. The sound is again way above what you'd expect at this price range. These feature 40mm drivers which deliver a loud signal with very reasonable sound quality. The bottom line is the MTH-20 are the only headphones under $50 that you could consistently use in a club situation. Single coiled cable. 1/4" adaptor included. -the mgmnt
Another very solid headphone from Audio Technica, the MTH-30s compete with higher priced models with their mid-level price, quality construction, and excellent sound quality. The MTH-30 builds on the solid foundation of the MTH-20s with beefed up sonic ratings (which are easily...

The ATH-M40fs are specially designed for studio and mastering. Unlike the similar-looking ATH-D40fs which are designed for bass response, the ATH-M40fs offer a flat response (equal levels across the board), which is optimal for home production and studio work. Like other Audio...

These special camouflage colorway headphones have become semi-legendary, previously only available in Japan or in very small run import batches (they still come in Japanese boxes). Aside from their unique look, the ATH-PRO5 MS is comparable to the domestic ATH-M30s, featuring 40mm...
expand review drivers, sturdy construction, and comfortable padding. Sound quality is above average for this price range, with strong bass and clearly defined mids. The cord features a convenient single-sided ear piece attachment, and comes with a protective metal sheath around the plug for extended life.
