TITLE: Cramp Your Style
ARTIST: All the People featuring Robert Moore
LABEL: Blue Candle (1496) 1972

I found this one diggin' in one of my favorite spots in the city in the back warehouse of the store in a box full of Captain and Tennelle/Johnny Cash and other unwanted 45s! I just knew it was something in there and right near the bottom pops up this nugget I've been trying to find for years! One of my all time favorites in vg condition, but hey, I can't complain!

TITLE: Cosmic Force b/w This Feeling
ARTIST: Julius Brockington and the Cosmic Force
LABEL: Burman Records (local Baltimore Label) 197?

Found this at my favorite 45 spot in the city. Top Cat Record & Novelty (it's sadly about to close up, so I suggest everyone that reads this hit him up soon, and I mean very soon). I didn't know who Julius Brockington was at first, but I put it on the GP-3 and it lit my ears up! Had me looking hi and lo for anything else he did. From what I know now are about 4 or 5 lps. This 45 also came out with a 2nd version. One with "This Feeling" instrumental and vocal on the flip which Fusion Unlimited hipped me to. If you see it, scoop it up immediately. "This Feeling" is definitely the shiznit!

TITLE: Its My Thing b/w River Rogue
ARTIST: Dennis Coffey & the Lymon Woodward Trio
LABEL: Maverick (MA-1007) ?

From what people tell me, this one is a hard one to dig up. I've seen a couple of them since this one (I have another copy with the full name Dennis Coffee). Both sides are tight especially "It's My Thing" of course a remake of the Isley Brothers classic. "River Rogue" (which I am told is not on the Hair and Thangs lp) has a crunchy break in the middle also. I Don't have the lp but it is definitely on my wants list after hearing this funk donut.

TITLE: Heavy Hips
ARTIST: Flamingos
LABEL: Ronze Records 197?

HUH? WHAT? THE FLAMINGOS! DOO WOP!! No my fellow digga! FUNK 45 all the way! Funky horns in the intro and a small breakdown in the middle! Cant go wrong here.

TITLE: Funky
ARTIST: ST-4
LABEL: Scepter Records (SDJ-1369) 1972

Remake of the classic Chamber Brothers joint from the New Generation lp, the "I left my wallet in El Segundo" loop. I can't say it's better than the original, but it's right up there with it. I've never heard of this group other than this 45. Uh, do they have anything else? If so, I gotta get it!!

TITLE: Im Afraid the Masquerade is Over
ARTIST: David Porter
LABLEL: Enterprise (ENA-9050) 1972

One of my all time favorite breaks right here! You all know this one, the "Who Shot Ya" joint. I know whoever uncovered this loop must have had to change his boxers!!! The drums on here are even crunchier than the lp version (of course). And since my name is David you know I love hearing the background "I love you david, I really love you." Loop this and let it sink in ya brain!!

TITLE: We Do It All Up In Here
ARTIST: Fantastic Epics
LABEL: Kelton Records (121-246) late 60s, early 70s

Another Top Cat Record & Novelty find. I recognized the group name from the "fun and funk pt 2 and 3" 45 I used to have (which I regrettably sold awhile ago). The music seems earlier than fun and funk thoughpossibly late 60s. Should be on everybodys funk 45-want list!

TITLE: Bad on Bad Get Down With the Geeter
ARTIST: Chet Ivey and his Fabulous Avengers
LABEL: Sylvia (S-501) (S-504) ?

Anybody that knows Chet Ivey knows he got some bangers! Here are two joints that are funkier than most of the vinyl ever pressed up, period. All the 45s I've heard of his are tight as hell, and I can hopefully scoop up all of them.

TITLE: Back Up Pts 1 & 2
ARTIST: Landlords & Tenants
LABEL: Buddha Records (BDA 301) 1972

Bangin all the way through! Funk, Funk, and mo Funk! SEE IT, COP IT, LOCK IT AWAY!!!

TITLE: Funky Axe
ARTIST: Spaghetti Head
LABEL: Private Stock 1975

I heard so much about this rock 45 that when I found it, it didn't live up to the expectations that I had for it. I was thinking crazy open drum breaks, like the Titanic stuff. But no open drum breaks; just a driving bass and drum groove that rapidly grew on me. It was also recently sampled in some car commercial.

TITLE: Chic a Boom
ARTIST: Pazant Brothers
LABEL: Vigor Records (VI-711) 1973

You all know this one!! From the Main Source classic "lookin at the front door." All I gotta say is CHIC A BOOM BOOM BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMCHIC A BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

OSAMA!
