Their first bag was an instant success with working DJs and the entire run sold out in a couple weeks at the Lab. Since then, we have been fielding numerous requests for more, but instead Headliner has been on a sort of hiatus, developing this new, much improved design. FEATURES The first things you will notice are the quality materials and superior construction. The super-stylish pinstriped material is a water proof, ballistic nylon, and the stitching details are impeccable. The second major detail is the size. This bag is sized like an ordinary backpack with a streamlined shape and no unnecessary bulk. The backpack straps and the back of the bag are fully-padded with a breathable nylon and foam. Lastly, the most impressive details of this bag are on the inside. This is an incredibly functional bag, thought out to every last detail. There is a separate padded laptop compartment that fits up to 17" laptops. The compartment also features adjustable velcro straps to keep your laptop extra-snug. In addition, there is room for approximately (20) 12" records, an EVA foam-padded Serato Amp pocket, a mesh headphone pocket, a mesh power supply pocket, a padded needle case pocket, velcro straps for organizing cables, an easy access zippered pocket for your phone etc, and a large front pocket for magazines etc. OUR OPINION For anyone who DJs out with Serato, this bag gets the highest recommendation. The RP-HTX7s look so sleek (especially with the understated blue-ish grey ear pieces), plus they include all the correct vintage details like an authentic leather, sewn head band cushion and extra-cushy ear pads. As for sound quality, the RP-HTX7s compare favorably to Sony's V500 with 40mm drivers and 1000mW power capacity, making these ideal for listening and casual home DJ use. - retro-design - single cable Arrived Yesterday http://www.turntablelab.com/dj_equipment/71/145/18356.html Sony - MDR-V6 Studio Headphones http://www.turntablelab.com/dj_equipment/71/36/21974.html
This mid-priced headphone from Sony is something of a legend. Initially introduced in the early 80s, it became the standard among studio heads and educated consumers alike for its excellent sound reproduction and strong build. Look up some reviews on the internet and you'll find that people literally swear by them. According to the specs, these aren't much different than similar current models, but fans claim they have a certain chemistry that makes sound that much better. Turn V6's all the way up and you will still have clear (but not tinny) highs, solid mids and an undistorted bass. The construction is also notable, with sturdy metal fasteners and a handsome leather headband. The cord is single sided and coiled. The MDR-V6 come with a leather carrying pouch and a silver 1/4" adaptor. Structurally, you get strong construction (most pieces can be tightened by screw, the ear pieces are made of metal), precise moving joints that won't wear out, swiveling earpieces for beatmatching, and a super comfortable fit. The single cord is coiled, so you don't trip over yourself in the DJ booth. Plus these look mad fly with all the perfectionist details including a slick carrying pouch. The most striking feature has got to be the sound quality... crisp highs and deep lows. The 50mm drivers allow these phones to push some serious volume. The sound is top of the line pro-consumer... meaning you can't go any better without spending 250+. As most digital DJs and laptop musicians all know, a stand is essential when playing a venue that does not have the space to accommodate laptops. The Uberstand fixes this problem by lifting the laptop above your turntables or gear which saves space and makes the laptop easier to access. The unit is constructed of high quality aircraft grade aluminum and stainless steel and features an adjustable shelf to hold your interface or hard drive. It's also super lightweight and folds flat to fit in an included 12" zippered bag making it extremely easy to transport. The RP-DH1200 has also been designed to match the look of their SL-DZ1200 cd turntable with a clean, polished design and Technics' signature strobe dots around the earpieces. In addition to the new look, they have made some major functional and structural improvements to their previous DJ headphones. These include larger 50mm drivers, a higher power input capacity (3500mW), and perhaps most importantly- a one-sided detachable cord, which eliminates a major source of headphone breakage. The joints between the earpieces and the headband, another area where dj headphones are commonly broken, have also been significantly reinforced; so these should be Technics most durable headphones yet. Everything about the construction is robust- thick padded headband, large cushioned earpieces, they weigh almost 5 pounds- providing both comfort and the ability to block outside noise. High recommendation for djing and studio use. Comes with a leather carrying pouch. "Firmly Planted Memories" is their latest exploration into the various realms of the dirty disco sound and as usual, the team hits their destination spot on. The title track(1) will get you situated into the electro-disco house groove, with pumping drums and arpeggiated bass topped off with clever scat vocal chops and effects. Kind of reminds me of something off the "Wronger Than Anyone Else" full length. "Where Is Miss Palmer(2)" goes on a tangent to some seriously funky terrain (kind of a new sound for In Flagranti), with more of a breaks-style beat, fat bass and some African(?) vocal bits. Feelin' this one. This EP also features the straight ahead disco sounds of Lord Isis' "Erdoel(3)" and rumbling, tribal swing beat of Eldridge and Huey's "Revolutionary Bust(4)." Don't really know too much about these tracks (possible aliases for IF?), but they definitely do not seem out of place with the rest of the EP. Packaged in a fitting collage pic sleeve by Gloor. Arrived Last Week http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/733/357/47944.html In Flagranti - Grand Central Shuttle 12" http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/733/357/38053.html
If you're gonna buy anything for the cover, do it now. Mr. Gloor from the dirty disco duo flexes his exquisite pervyness on this one. But no worry folks. As always, the product is good. The title track "Grand Central(1)" is a midnight groover with new wave punky vocals by Artanker. Just imagine brand new Disco Not Disco material for today's heads. But for more intensity, flip the side for the floor killer, "Coquine - Sanctuary Mix(2)!" It's a stomper, featuring the sexy, rude French vocals of Gabouchka, which sounds similar to the vocals on their previous jam, "Melodymaker"(also a great track). The wompy bass rippers and hyper percussion are sure to have crowds bubbling. Also, for fans of the Italo synthpop sounds, turn to the "Supermarket Mix(3)" for a alternate fix. It's sweet. For an extra bonus, "Codependency(4)," rocks a killer instrumental jam for a sick new mix tool. All in all, I'm really glad these dudes are keeping their release schedule tight. No one can fuse these diverse dance styles like they do. Arrived Yesterday http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/733/357/38053.html In Flagranti - Intergalactic Bubblegum 12" http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/733/357/17715.html
You know about the slow disco styles being revived right now? Well It's just fitting that "Intergalactic Bubblegum(1)" comes to blow up that spot too. First of all, these are not album cuts, but spankingly new tracks. Hard at work is an understatement here, and the fact that they're involving more and more live talent, like G.Rizzo here, makes this cut even more solid. I especially like the Dr. Who-like intro to set the mood for this fantastic joyride. "Efx 10-11(2)" gets more abstract sounding like some droid disco, complete with blips and beeps. "Bipolar(3)" is another slowburning time warp back to 80's italo, that works its momentum up with a killer synth section that will perk ears. Nice cover treatment as always(the back is the best part). Check In Flagranti's website for sample video clips to compliment the sound. Leave it to the In Flagranti dudes to keep the sleaze factor high, but classy at the same time. That goes for their tracks and remixes too. "Nonplusultra" was an obvious heater of their full length but they went and got Black Devil (aka trippy-space-disco-wizard-number-1) to do a remix(1) which turns the OG into a dubbed-out cosmic italo burner. Pretty much sounds like a lost track from the Black Devil In Dub album. The flip features the uber-nasty Sex Schon Remix(2) of "Nonplusultra" which was previously available at the Lab on super limited promo status. Good to see it available again to the sleepyheads that missed out the first time around. Don't miss out this time! Arrived Yesterday http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/733/357/21608.html In Flagranti - Teaching Children How To Swear 12" http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/733/357/17186.html
Ok, I know we've been hyping up In Flagranti, but come on... this shit is fire pon the dancefloor! They done paired up two of the most powerful tracks off the album, plus a non-album heater on this one. When I got the promo CD months ago"Teaching Children How To Swear(1)" immediately grabbed my ear. Cut n' paste dance production with rocked out guitar licks and vox done proper. If you picked up the Chromeo "Un Mix Joli" unmixed vinyl you might recognize the bass sample and damn they flip it nice! An excellent opener to a electro-rock-disco-daft set. Flip side features "Convolution(2)," another personal fave from the album. Here Sasha & Co. flip that sick disco-not-disco Material loop into a funk-rock monster complete with distorted guitars and cut up female vocals. Also features "Monarchy Chair(3)," which sounds like a doped up remix of "Teaching Children". Snackmaster recommended. "Hold The Line(1)" is a wild surf-rock, equine beat that features Santigold and Mr. Lexx. Naturally, they give up the instrumental so people can voice their own version, and the acapella for all the aspring remixers out there. The flip features a remix from Toadally Krossed Out(2), which finds the mysterious Mad Decent affiliates using an alternate guitar line and adding some big wobbly bass lines. Also features Bay Of Figs(3), a high energy electrohouse / dance hall hybrid that features Ward 21. Is dance hall gonna be the new sound of the summer? Recommended. Well then, I guess all I have to say is Discograph & Codek. They both have together to bring you a new various artist comp bringing some new Italo and disco sounds. Of course you know In Flagranti(1) gonna bring heat to the fire - Super sick disco bass, with ill space effects, and a big room disco sound. But do you know the minimal deepness of Oblio's "Escape(2)," the playful synthwork of Freddie Mas' "Tide To The Tide(3)," or the New space Italo sounds of Heizgas Meters' "Lobt Noch Irrt(4)?" Me neither, but click on the samples to get familiar. Definitely quality sounds. Seeing how we always sell out of the Italians Do It Better stuff, I'd hop on these quick. It's a perfect fit into your space disco crate. Arrived Yesterday http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/147/423/34780.html V/A - Sounds Superb, Vol.2 (In Flagranti) EP http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/147/423/39295.html
Since the first volume in the Sounds Superb EP series featured one track from In Flagranti and three other artists who we'd never heard of before (or from since), I'm gonna assume that all four of these fake-sounding artist names are really In Flagranti in disguise. Arms Neumond starts it off with the plodding downtempo boogie of "Late Night Flight L.A.X.(1);" sounds like this might be an edit, complete with a lovely vocal sample about sunsets. Next up, Harmonika Lyder's "Siegfried Der Drachentoter(2)" has gotta be original production - a stuttering, bloopy track that sounds like something from an educational science film you'd see in high school (the part that shows all the blood circulating through your body). On the flip, we got Airy Dun's "Cockney Wide Boy(3)" with tight disco grooves and a no wave flair courtesy of one skronky filtered sax, honkin' away into the night. Fab Tak rounds it out with "House of Funk(4)" - another edit? - working with a minimal drums / bass / handclaps loop and tiny vocal snip, letting loose occasionally with a wakka-chikka guitar breakdown. Arrived Yesterday http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/147/423/39295.html V/A - Sounds Superb, Vol.4 (In Flagranti) EP http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/147/423/61363.html
More edits and randomness from the In Flagranti fam. Misters Crnobrnja & Gloor start the proceedings with the wonderfully hazy "Mutual Affection(1)," an edit of Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight" which doesn't reveal itself until the end (and even then barely so). On the flip, Euler's "Conservation Of Momentum(2)" is a 20+ minute slow-motion jam which fiddles endlessly with the pitch control (hence the title). Also includes Bruno Cried's "No One Has Ever Pinned Anything On Me(3)." A-side plays at 45; B-side at 33. Arrived Today http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/147/423/61363.html
