Does this really need a blurb? Bob Marley is probably the most world renowned artist to take his music and ideas and become an icon for political and spiritual freedom. He's such a cultural icon, you'd have to be living under a rock not to have heard of him. He's in all the headshops, your ex-girlfriend's bedroom wall, in your friend's smokey VW bus, on the shirt of many rastafarians, and murals. But how well do you really know him? Even his friends and family didn't now that much about him. "He was never close to one person his entire life," says his girlfriend in an interview. In real life, he was always traveling, acting as a ambassador for his religion and his music. I mean, Time magazine called his "Exodus" the best album of the twentieth century. This DVD goes in-depth into the journey of this musical legend. It's completely done in documentary style, covering his history, his era, interviews with original band members, friends, family, rare footage, and more. I'm so used to seeing him as an image, to see him actually speaking and singing is too real. It's quite magical really. Not to be missed. Highly recommended. 89 min.
