A documentary searching for answers to the still-unsolved murders of Tupac and Biggie. The film is directed by Nick Broomfield, a British documentarian who has become well-known for investigating the stories behind high profile celebrities (his previous work includes "Kurt & Courtney"...   expand review  about the death of Kurt Cobaine, and "Heidi Fleiss: Hollywood Madam") and stirring up heaps of controversy along the way. It follows Nick as he explores all possible avenues of information, interviewing sources like Biggie's mom, Tupac's dad, people they used to hang with, anybody related to the cases, crooked cops, gang members, and even Suge Knight himself (while in jail!). He makes a definite case for certain theories (Suge Knight did it), but I don't know what the hell to believe now- how do you trust a crooked cop? Quite surprising, nonetheless. Bonus features included additional scenes edited from original theatrical release, and director commentary. -the mgmnt

It seems Element is finally done riding the Bam hype machine and is back to straight business with this new video. It's not like they went anywhere, they've become sort of NY Yankees of skate teams over the years. Nyjah Huston hits...   expand review  leadoff, and I only have two words for this skate prodigy: "little freak!" His part would have been the finale if you went on pure difficulty. My other favorites include Tosh Townend who destroys everything he skates, Tony Tave who probably does the most stylish flips ever, the very original Brent Atchley, and the sunglass-sporting Darrell Stanton (why do black skaters always have the best style?). As for filming style, this is one of the best executed videos yet. The filming is super-professional, utilizing interesting POV and multiple angles. The title screens throughout the video are pure class (floating type!), and the soundtrack features very complimentary downtempo beats. No gimmicks here, just solid skating. Other skaters featured include: Chad Muska, Chad Tim Tim, Brent Atchley, Mike Vallely, Bam Margera, Mike Barker, Jimmy Lannon, Levi Brown, Dallas Rockvam, and Collin Provost. Special appearances by Josh Rio, Michael Mackrodt, Soichiro Nakajima, Bas Janssen, Bucky Lasek, Chris Senn, Jeremy Wray, Ray Barbee, Vanessa Torres, Kevin Terpening and Lacey Baker. All region. 80 minutes. -the mgmnt

Bargain of the month! We can't get enough of these Death Row reissues, and now they've gone and done it proper for tha Doggfather. The title of this one is a bit deceptive: not only does it feature the full length short...   expand review  film "Murder Was The Case" (based around Snoop's song of the same title, starring Snoop and Charlie Murphy and directed by Dr. Dre himself!) but a whole grip of candid interviews, full-length music videos and live performances from the Doggystyle era. You get Snoop & Dre rolling on stage at the MTV Music Video Awards in a purple lowrider (with hydraulics and "CHRONIC" license plate, of course) before performing "Nuthin' But A G Thang," plus the videos for "What's My Name," "Gin & Juice" ("Snoop Doggy Dogg? You need to get a jobby job!") and "Doggy Dog World." But wait – that's not all! (In best infomercial voice.) They also have Snoop performing on SNL, doing "Gin & Juice" live on an unspecified show, full videos for "Midnight Love" and "Head Doctor" as well as the bonus uncut video for Dre & Cube's "Natural Born Killaz." Like I said, this is a goddamn bargain for the price. Only thing missing here is Snoop's "wheelchair" performance of "Murder Was The Case." Recommended. -Chris Lemon-Red

You've heard 'bout the blow up of the Hyphy movement, bought up all the Mac Dre singles, but do you really think you're ready for this? Thizz is TREAL TV, meng, the most densely packed thizz and hyphy DVD out there, bottled...   expand review  straight from the source in the Bay. I know you know 'bout thizzin', ghost ridin' the whip, goin' dumb, scrapers, shakin' yo dreads, yellow bus ridin – well it's all right here, live and direct, hosted by every hyphy giant there is: Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, J-Diggs, Kuzzo Fly, Mistah F.A.B. and more. It really runs like a TV show, with each host introducing a section. Check the topics: the Mac Dre memorial (where the fans give love through airbrushed shirts, iced out necklaces, hats and tattoos), the Hawaii section (impossible to find footage of the Furly Ghost himself performing – what?! I guarantee you won't find that anywhere else), the Miami section, the smoke section, store signings, ice section, Da Hot Spot (which is the only all-hyphy store run by "Shitty" and "Bigo Pint"), footage of the 2005 BARS awards, streetfights, and much more. Also has live performances from Keak Da Sneak, Mistah F.A.B, J-Diggs and Yukmouth. Make sure you're holdin some stash and your phone is off, 'cause this is well over an hour and a half of pure Thizz Entertainment. Get it quick, 'cause the way City Hall ships these out, once these are gone, it might be a while. Shaboobulaboopy. Yadadameen? -C'mish
