Daft Punk: D.A.F.T. DVD
This DVD collects all of Daft Punk's music videos from the "Homework" album. You get all the classic vids like "Da Funk" directed by Spike Jonze, the unforgettable "Around The World" video directed by fellow frenchman Michel Gondry, "Burnin" by Seb Janiak, "Revolution 909" by Roman Coppola, and "Fresh," which was directed by Daft Punk themselves. Audio commentary is available for all the videos along with the "Making Of's" which feature big name remixes (Armand Van Helden, MAW, Ian Pooley, etc. ) of the various tracks. In addition, you also get to check out Daft Punk rock it in LA, doing a live version of "Rollin' & Scratchin'" from 9 different camera positions. Can't wait to see their upcoming Electroma movie.

DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist: Hard Sell at the Hollywood Bowl DVD
Get your vinyl fetishes rejuvinated, 'cause it's the latest and grandest chapter of the Shadow and Cut Chemist trilogy. While Brain Freeze and Product Placement took place in small intimate settings, this is the straight Hollywood Bowl we're talking about. The showdown is documented in crisp digital sound, with 17 cameras, and three audience mics, which makes this their biggest production yet. It also comes beautifully packaged with a double packaged DVD, three-fold inner package including a 40 page booklet of production pictures and behind the scenes by B+. The bonus features and snippets also take you into the studio with Cut and Shadow, documenting their entire production from the inital phone call to laborious mixing and scratching sessions. The original red die-cut versions of the Hard Sell Mix CD is already sold out indefinitely. So I'd swoop before this one follows suit.

DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist: Product Placement DVD
After a couple years, and numerous bootlegs, Shadow & Cut Chemist have finally issued some legitimate items to the public at large. This set includes both the Product Placement DVD and the original Product Placement audio CD. The DVD is all you could hope for- extremely well made, quality filming techniques and cleverly put together. The 60 minute Product Placement routine is presented by splicing together the best moments of shows from at least 7 different cities (LA, SF, NYC, Tokyo, London, Manchester, Glasgow, etc), which makes for a much more interesting document than just a straight set in one city. They also pepper the performance with footage of off-stage action, record store hunting (hello Makoto and Weekend Records!), Keb Darge being a crazy motherfucker, Tokyo hotel room record trading, and more. I'm impressed. That would probably be enough, but they also include a second performance montage: Around The World In 14 DJs, which is basically footage of all the guys who opened up for them. Shortkut, Nu-Mark, Dante Carfagne, Z-Trip, Skatemaster Tate (!), Egon, Marvski, Keb Darge, etc all playing strictly 45s! True nerds can also watch the whole thing with commentary from Shadow & Cut (it's actually quite amusing); and don't forget that the package also includes the Product Placement audio cd. Quite a bargain. The DVD is Region 1 (NTSC) encoded. Bonus product placement: Cut Chemist sweating through one of our logo t-shirts in Glasgow!

Radiohead: The King Of Limbs - Live From The Basement Blu-Ray + DVD
live, intimate performance of songs from The King Of Limbs on Blu-Ray + DVD
From The Basement is an unprecedented live music program on BBC, which includes Nigel Godrich, Radiohead's longtime producer, on the team behind project. For an episode with Thom Yorke and the gang, FTB captures the recording session which consisted of the band performing The King Of Limbs in its entirety. In addition to the four members, drummer Clive Dreamer (Portishead, Roni Size) joins, and a horn section also appears on a few songs. The critically acclaimed album is excellent in itself, but to see Radiohead play tracks off of it live (at Maida Vale Studios) is a treat, "a beautiful fifty five minute journey into the world" of the outfit. The fans will especially enjoy the "icing on top" moments of the DVS, as Radiohead decides to perform "Supercollider" (previously available only 12 inch single) and two brand new tracks, "Daily Mail" and "Staircase". This Blu-Ray version is accompanied by a 32-page book featuring photographs of the session by Steve Keros, highly recommended.

Turntable TV Deluxe DVD
It's been years since the last Turntable TV, but Q-bert, Yogafrog, and Skratchy Seal are still up to their wacky scratch antics. In the latest installment of the TTV saga, witness DJ Q-bert visit the UK for DMC 2005 and chill with DJ Yeah (youngest scratch DJ), the secret origin of Skratchy Seal, Beat Boxing + Floor Squeaking with Trihedral, funky-ass tutting from Bionic Man and Pharcyde, the making of the QFO, and of course... LOTS of freestyle scratch sessions with Q and his homies from around the globe (like Misaya + Kouji of Japan, Vajra, Rafik, and Tyra). Features tons of extras too - most notably a bunch of old school TTV clips from the Thud Rumble vaults.

Win Win: Mixtape Volume One DVD
bugged out visual mixtape from the Win Win crew
For those that have been keeping up with long time Lab homies, Spank Rock, you know they just keep getting weirder and weirder. With Spank Rock finally putting out a follow up this Fall, and the Fully Fitted guys signing to Vice Records as Win Win there seems to be a lot of excitement going on in their camp. If you bought the Win Win album from earlier this year, you may have been caught a little off guard as it was a psychedelic romp with great guest appearances from your favorite indie sweet hearts taking over vocal duties. What you may not have known is how psychedelic these dudes are taking the project. Their live show is comprised of cooler than cool visuals by video artist Ghostdad along with live reworkings from their debut.Â
This DVD was made for their early Summer tour they co-headlined with another Lab favorite The Death Set. It is a mixtape that is all sorts of F*CKED UP, visually and sonically. Ghostdad, XXXchange, and Devlin took their couche tarde idea to an entire other level. This is something you watch when you skip school with your stoner friends. If you have ADD and are a fan of TV Carnage, found footage, and youtube then this if for you. Check visuals from the DVD below.
Win Win Megateaser from Ghostdad on Vimeo.
