File this one under hallowed funk record that truly lives up to the hype. Of all the recent Ike reissues, this is the Ike Turner record that truly matters to diggers. It's fully instrumental and all the expected cache: the big breakbeat track (Funky Mule), the Cut Chemist sample (Getting Nasty), and the inntagible chunkiness (Black Beauty). In all honesty, it's not a stretch to drop "the whole album is awesome" here. "Black Beauty, Ghetto Funk, Black's Alley," they're all excellent listening with their own distinct flavor. Recommended.
