More nicely compiled and highly illicit classics from Slowtospeak, who remind us that there was a time when Carlos Santana was more than just the aged axeman for d'bags like Rob Thomas and Shakira. The previously unreleased "Mantra(1)" takes up the A-side, a great propulsive fusion track excerpted from a jam between Santana and his ill studio musicians during the sessions for 1973's Welcome. On the flip, there's a tight groove on the funky "Mirage(2)" from the following year's Borboletta album (one of the best Santana tracks, though written by Leon Patillo of Creation), and "Aqua Marine(3)" from 1979's Marathon. Plays at 45. Limited stock.
