the lab review
Stretch Armstrong's Plant Music label has been coming strong with the releases lately, and this Glass 12" is simply loaded! The original version of "Wanna Be Dancin(1)" is catchy enough as-is, but then you get an all-star batch of remixes that makes it kinda hard to pick what version to play out. First is In Flagranti's weirdo-disco version(2), a total chugger sounding like a dark warehouse or sleazy leather bar. Then DC's Nadastrom (Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom) turn in an excellent minimal groover(3) and Eli Escobar gives it a retro-modern house make-over(4) complete with jackin' percussion, fat analog acid bass, wailing sirens and epic piano breakdowns. Wow... impressive!
