Impressive debut release from Speculator's new WT Records label outta Brooklyn. Fans of dusty Detroit-style grooves a la Theo, Moody, Trus'me, etc. need to check the sounds of "Mean Old World(1)" by Kinoeye. Hypnotic synths, pounding drums and that vocal sample... "It's a mean old' world." Great stuff. The other side features "MKB (1)" by Stinkworx, a deep and moody piano house with just the right amount of dubbed out effects for the late night hours. Got these copies direct from Speculator (keeping it local), so show some support for the underground. Recommended.
