Soul Jazz reminds me of that student who gets A's in everything, and although that may sound nerdy, it's their consistency that keeps them shining through all their projects. Whether it's baile funk, rare New Orleans funk, grime, dubstep, whatever, you pretty much know it's going to be the bomb. This one focuses on the history of dubstep's key artists, in and out of Corydon, where it was born. On it, you'll find all the music from volume's 1 & 2 of the vinyl release, compiled in one place for all the bassed out fans. As always, you'll find extensive liner notes explaining the recent history and culture of dubstep and how these each of these artists played a part. The CD ranges from dubstep's humble beginnings in Croydon with PC freeware to the blow up of grime MC's and Rinse FM. The whole package is pretty thorough. For some personal favorites check Benga's "Evolution(1)," "Plastician - Intensive Snare(2)," "Goth Trad's "Genesis(3)," Martyn's "Broken(4), "Quest's Hardfood(5), "Geiom's "Reminissin(6)," and Peverelist's "Roll With The Punches(7)."
