Jesse Rose and Dave Taylor (Solid Groove, Induceve) continue to produce records that defy genre while simultaneously filling dancefloors. The last release on Dubsided hasn't left my bag in months, and every time I drop it someone asks what that sound is (It's the sound of now). Shuffled house beats under chopped-up breakbeats. Sonic drones smacking the shit out of the soundsystem. These guys have engineered a polyrhythmic sound that is highly effective and unique. "A-Sided(1)" starts off this four tracker with a droney, accessible thump that jacks filtered basslines across clicktracks and carefully spliced samples. "Sticks and Stones(2)" gets all tribal with chants, hand drums, and creative dropouts. On "Suggestion Box(3)," bubbling rhythms are accented with chopped vocal bits and creative samples to create another dancefloor jacker. "Black Coffee(4)" closes it out with a moody, stompy piece. These guys really have the hottest thing happening in house music right now.
