Alexander Robotnick
Obsession For The Disco Freaks (Nacho Lovers, Freeform Five, Lil Bo Tweak) 12"
new track from legendary disco producer, hype remixes
Label debut for legendary disco producer Alexander Robotnick on Fool's Gold Recs! "Obsession For The Disco Freaks(1)" has been making noise in the digital realm for a minute now, and now the track finally sees a 12" vinyl release. The veteran producer seems to ramps up his classic italo style with pumping house drums, tough 303 bass, and high energy synth lines that will drive the dancefloor into a frenzy. A dope, versatile sound that'll cross over with house, disco, and techno. The Nacho Lovers take a stab at the remix(2) with swirling arpeggios and a deep drums and sub-bass for the late night rave freaks, while Freeform Five opt for more of a dark and dirty warehouse style for their remix(3). Really feeling the Li'll Bo Tweak remix(4) with its live feeling drums and hypnotic synth layers that create a strong, easy-to-feel groove. Recommended.

Amy Winehouse
You Know I'm No Good / Rehab (Hot Chip Remix) 12"
A loaded single from the suddenly crossed-over UK pop star. When this girl's first album came out, the only time I read about it was scanning through The Guardian to find the soccer scores. Now she's fucking with Ghost and writing songs about rehab that even my mom likes? "Rehab(1)" is awesome, by the way, but the real surprise here is a remix from the equally ubiquitous Hot Chip(2). The boys turn in a nice electro boogie concoction, making good use of the original's horns along with chopped up vocals and some hard-hitting drums toward the end. A nice, extended (7 minutes!) take on a track that we were hoping someone would edit. "You Know I'm No Good(3)" has been around for a second, but it's still hot and you get both the OG and remix(4) with Ghostface – a good look if you didn't pick up More Fish. (And why didn't you? Get the deluxe edition Hidden Darts CD while you're at it... never can have too much PrettyTone.)

Black Strobe
Burn Your Own Church 2LP
Now available on vinyl! I really haven't heard anything like this since I stopped listening to Swamp Terrorists and Frontline Assembly back in high school. Black Strobe aren't as hard as those dudes (more of an electronic house feel) but this is still a great listen. Check out "Blood Shot Eyes(1)" and "Not What You Need(2)." Yeah, I know you're thinking what I am: where were Black Strobe's parents? They totally let their kids listen to too much KMFDM and Killing Joke. Then again, if they hadn't, we wouldn't have tracks like "Lady 13(3)," would we? "Shining Bright Star(4)" is the lead single off this album and is basically a reworked Ministry track. Fifty bucks goes to the customer who can guess which one. Get at me. Anyways, spring is here and yes it is ok to wear all black, go to the park, and lurk out while listening to this.

Bok Bok & L-Vis 1990
Night Slugs EP w/ FREE CD
london club music, 4 heaters!
Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 (of Mad Decent fame) have come together to drop a record that will give you a combined sense of dynamic London music scene. The duo uses elements of dupstep, house and everything in between, forming aggressive, bastard butt movers. These tracks have been getting heavy support by DJs like Drop The Lime, Starkey, Feadz, Shir Khan, and others. As if 4 heaters weren't enough, the 12" also comes packaged with a mix CD from Jackmaster.

Boys Noize
Transmission (Mr. Oizo, Djedjotronic) 12"
electro house
Wild remixes of Boys Noize "Transmission" from Mr. Oizo and DJedjotronic. Expect to be assaulted by a barrage of distorted synths, crazy bleeps, and manic robot speech like a computer possessed and gone berserk. Mr. Oizo goes for that signature wonky Ed Banger style(1) that drives the kids crazy while DJedjotronic builds the intensity with his driving remix(2). Also includes the original and the Speak & Spell acapella.

Computer Juice
Computer Juice (Riton & Seiji) 12"
twisted, synth heavy electro house
Let's say you're working on a banging electro house track in Ableton or Reason and you accidently spill a glass of liquid (ahem "juice") on your computer. Now imagine then that instead of just turning off, the computer starts freaking the hell out and wildin' on your track! Synths get uncontrollably freaked to the maximum, drums get bumped and chopped like no tomorrow... The end result might sound something like this pair of tracks from Riton & Seiji, or Computer Juice as they've appropriately decided to call themselves for this release. 2 tracks of wonky-electro-wobble house for fans of the aggressive Turbo sound. Also includes a remix from like-minded knob tweakers Tai & D.I.M.

Congorock
Runark (Jokers Of The Scene Remix) 12"
Italian rave music
Italy has been producing a slew of interesting new electronic producers as of late. The latest and greatest of these rave exports is Rocco Rampino, better known to partygoers around the globe as Congorock, and Fool's Gold introduces his bleeped-out, bass-heavy brand of club sonics to the world at large. Congorock's debut single "Runark(1)" is a buzzing four-and-a-half minutes of heart-attack breakbeats, ghetto house thump, and Sega Genesis synthesizer madness. The chunky anthem serves as a perfect calling card for this young producer, who in the space of a few months went from drumming in a hardcore band, to chopping up beats with his mentor Bob Rifo of the Bloody Beetroots, to producing hyperactive remixes for the likes of Rex The Dog and Boys Noize Records' Djedjotronic. "Runark" comes backed with a proggy remix by FG labelmates Jokers Of The Scene(2), as well as the jacking Congorock originals "Exodus(3)" and "Hybro(4)," all wrapped up in psychomystical sleeve art from Dust La Rock. Recommended.

Dances With White Girls
New Crack Swing EP
fun dance music
Dances With White Girls has been coming up fast in NYC recently, showing up on lots of "artists to watch" lists for 2k9. On his debut for the Rapture owned Throne of Blood label he shows us why. The obvious go-to here is "Everyone's Got To Make A Living(1)," featuring the famous vocal break and a great piano breakdown towards the end. "Girls Bug(2)" features someone rapping selected lyrics from The Beach Boys' "I Get Around"(!!!) over a driving house beat. Finally, "Took My Love Away(3)" features a vocal sample layered onto an electro bass line, with some intense string samples sprinkled on top. A side plays at 33, B side plays at 45. Recommended.

Chicago Juke with dance remixes
I JUKE DAT GIRL FROM THE BACK. I JUKE DAT GIRL FROM THE BACK. I JUKE DAT GIRL FROM THE BACK! Yep, it's DJ Gant-Man bringing the real Chicago Juke sound(1) on Fool's Gold Recs. Can't help but wanna get up and shake it after listening to the stripped down, yet uber-bouncey drums and hypnotic hook. Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom give it a hype make-over(2) that would sound at home on Dubsided, while Greenmoney goes for a hype global sound(3). Sure to make 'em move. Instrumental included for the OG.

Fever Ray
If I Had A Heart Remixes (Fuck Buttons, Familjen) 12"
excellent remixes of 1/2 of The Knife
Fever Ray, aka Karin Dreijer of The Knife, quietly released one of 2009's freshest albums. The 12" remix series is equally impressive, tapping some of the scene's top producers. The single for "If I Had A Heart" is headlined by an ass-kicking F*ck Buttons mix(1). I've been a fan of this duo ever since hearing their Street Horrrsing album from 2008. They produce a static-y wall of synths, part shoegaze, part trance anthem. This mix is no different as they transform the original into journey (yeah, brau). On the flip, Familjen(2) takes it a mellow electro-bass route a la Michna. Good cerebral stuff on both sides.

Fully Fitted
Re-Edits (XXXchange, Pase Rock, Amanda Blank) EP
remixes by the Fully Fitted crew
Led by Spank Rock producer XXXchange and featuring the talents of Amanda Blank, Pase Rock (Five Deez), !!!'s Tyler Pope, and Sylvia of Kudu, the Fully Fitted crew has been steady infiltrating clubs this year, and the takeover can only get stronger with this, their official debut release on Money Studies. Leading off with an intro from French rap clown prince The Genevan Heathen, the EP hits the ground running with a remix of DJ Class' blazing, "Rump Shaker" horn-sampling "Roll It(1)" with Pase on vocals (instrumental also included). XXXchange's dirty south / French electro hybrid "100 Million(2)" is sure to blow some heads; ditto for his rework of house favorite "He Not In(3)," which features insane original synth work and even some dancehall flavoring. And that's just the A-side! Every wondered how Paul Simon would fare in a grimy Bmore club? Chipset & Devlin give you the answer on the much anticipated "50 Ways(4)," which has literally been years in the making and now features a verse from fellow Spank Rock associate Ms. Blank. (Got the instrumental for that one, too.) The terrifying trio of XXX, Devlin & Darko round things out with the extra hype party break "New Day(5)," and "Shake It(6)," which transforms DJ Blaqstarr's "Shake It To The Ground" into a Rong-style slow burner. Pic sleeve designed by PH. Definitely recommended.

Herve
Cheap Thrills Vol.1 Sampler (Trevor Loveys, Jack Beats, The Bloody Beetroots) 12"
sampler from the fidget and electro label's first anthology
Herve presents Cheap Thrills Sampler Vol. 1 which releases 4 BIG tracks off the pumped up Cheap Thrills Records 2CD Compilation. As far as I know, this is the first time you can hear these off of vinyl and it just makes the sound that much bigger. Trevor Loveys and Herve team up as the duo Speaker Junk to blast you with bigroom power on their track "Outside(1)". It's got it all, pumping piano intro and a climactic bass womping electro house breakdown, the works. Herve's continues the hypeness when teaming up with Jack Beats on his remix of "Rainstick - Herve's Bushfire Remix(2)." Check the opera sample right before the drop, crazy. Flipside to have the B-side win again with His Majesty Andre feat. The Bloody Beetroots with their pumped up track "Puppets(3)" that hooks you with a Daft Punk-like vocoder hook to drive em crazy. Max Morell finishes the side with a smoother electro house choon "Seelekio(4)" that brings together DnB style buildups and breakdowns with their "Yess Selectah!" sample and insane basswomp.

Jaimie Fanatic
Whats Happening To Ya (Say Wut Remix) 12"
What you know about Jaimie Fanatic? The Dutch house bad boy is the latest addition to the Mad Decent fam, and though this is his debut release on the label, he is by no means a newbie to the game (just check his discogs entry). Take a listen to the hybrid dance styles of "What's Happening(1)" and it's obvious dude has had plenty of experience rocking the massive crowds. A killer combination of house, electro, fidget, and even some bmore elements make this one huge with the likes of Diplo, Switch, Laidback Luke and Armand Van Helden. Speaking of bmore though, Unruly representer Say Wut turns in a hard hitting bmore remix(1) of the track that's sure to tear the roof off. Also check "Someone To Count On(2)," which takes up the entire b-side on the more minimal vocal house tip. Recommended.

John & Jehn
Looking For You Remixes (Mighty Mouse, LD) 12"
cosmic disco and dubstep remixes
French rock duo John & Jehn get the remix treatment via two very different producers. Dumb Angel in-house remixers Might Mouse deliver a cosmic version(1) and a dub(2). Apparently, these have been gaining traction with all the bearded dudes because of play on Radio One by Aeroplane. Sounds very Rub N Tuggy. The other side of the coin goes to dubstep producer LD of Hyperdub fame. His version(3) is a fresh take on the disco rock sound with aggressive snares borrowed from dubstep and an overall DFA-style feel. This one is going to be featured on N-Type's Rinse mix.

John Lord Fonda
DeBaSer, Pt.3 EP
This release comes on rising French label Citizen, which was started by artist Vitalic and has recently introduced us to Teenage Bad Girl. John Lord Fonda is one of the label's main producers, with this release being a continuation of his first Voltage EP from 2004. The side-spanning a-side track "Universal Machine(1)" can only be described as epic. It's displays menagerie of dance styles: french electro, techno, and hard house. Play this when the vampires enter the house. "Tell Me Now(2)" is more in the vein of the current French electro scene, with gritty synth progressions and a driving house beat; but hold on, check those new wave vocals midway... too cool. I think music producers should stay away from the themed stuff, especially, when it has to do with the interweb, so I won't bother you with the so bad it's funny "Addicted To Web(3)."

Jokers Of The Scene
Acid Bagg (White Vinyl) 12"
Second EP on Fool's Gold from those beat-loving Canadians in Jokers of the Scene, DJ Booth and Chameleonic. Picking up on an even rave-ier tip than where "Y'all Know The Name" left off, "Baggy Bottom Boys(1)" is a buzzing, pumping acid house affair - a true new rave epic if I've ever heard one. "Acidrod(2)" goes off on a more minimal and (surprise!) acidic tip with a nod to Nate Dogg / Dre / Axelrod, then gets fitted with some Parisian thump courtesy of Brodinski(3). Also includes a nasty Destroy Disco remix(4). Pressed up on pristine white vinyl. So recommended.

Kavinsky
Blazer Pic-Disc EP
If legend is to be believed, Kavinsky is the world's best-known zombie DJ and musician. Others will tell you he's the alias of Vincent Belorgey, protege of French beatmaster Mr. Oizo, friend and tourmate of Daft Punk and the Ed Banger crew. Whichever story you choose to believe, Kavinsky's new EP for Fool's Gold -- his first domestic release -- is a total no-brainer. Updating vintage Moroder and Miami Vice sounds with a French touch, Blazer features three of the possibly undead producer's finest cuts from his import releases -- "Testarossa Autodrive(1)," "Dead Cruiser(2)," "Grand Canyon(3)" -- and seals the deal with the exclusive unreleased gem "1986(4)." The whole thing is wrapped up in a spiffy Ferarri tire pic disc designed by (who else?) Dust La Rock, and is strictly limited to 1,000 copies.

Le Corps Mince De Francoise
Something Golden (Oleo, Renaissance Man, Heartbreak) 12"
synthpop with house remixes
Le Corps are a French-named girl group out of Helsinki (I know, it's a little confusing, but bear with me), with a knack for synthpop sounds. I can't tell if they're rapping or singing during the verses on "Something Golden(1)," but I don't think it really matters. Nice remixes on this one as well, check out Oleo's slow burner version(2) that starts slow and moody and then morphs into a double time 8-bit track halfway through. Renaissance Man delivers a tech house version(3) that eschews the vocals entirely, and Heartbreak gives it the electro remix(4) that the track has been begging for.

New In Town Remixes (Drop The Lime, A1 Bassline) 12"
synth pop darling gets both hype and cosmic remixes
New remixes for the opening track from Little Boots' recently released Hands LP. Drop The Lime(1) leads things off with his signature brand of hyper-bass, speeding up the original and bombarding you with kicks and synths until you're gasping for breath. A1(2) goes the bassline route, keeping the tempo fast and the floor moving with syncopated synth chords and looped vocals. The flip side slows things down a little, with NYC's The Golden Filter(3) concocting a nice cosmic synth-pop version, while Glasgow's Den Haan(4) puts a nice vintage italo sound on it. One item of note, the labels are switched on this one (for a second I thought DTL had pulled a U-turn and started making laid back synth pop), so keep that in mind. Not hating on the uptempo stuff, but the B Side really murders it here, recommended.

Loose Shus
Threesome (Xinobi, Keenhouse) 12"
new disco and house
Excellent new disco and house from Bay Area producer Loose Shus here. Threesome(1) is a nice chunk of electro boogie, definitely has that throwback 80s sound. Xinobi handles the remix(2) for that one, giving it a slow house twist. On the flip you'll find "Taurus(3)," a nice modern-italo cut with some wicked lead synth lines and vocoded samples. Keenhouse's remix(4) for that one speeds things up a bit and really lets those original synth solos shine in the middle. Finally, you also get the cool melodic bonus beat "Mmmmmm hmmmmmmmm(5)," which provides a mellow closer for the EP. All five tracks are great here, very recommended.

Miss Kittin
Kittin Is High 12"
I thought I smelled goth by the Emily Strange-like graphics on this. Well, it's not exactly goth per se, but its dark. Dark like a drugged out vampire looking for revenge. "Kittin Is High - 9/11 Mix by Black Labelle(1)" gives a slow burning groove with an elastic as hell bass kit, with and Ms. Kittin spitting mad breathy ramblings about how high she is along with witches and vampires. it also features an sweet breakdown similar to Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" pattern. Flip to the b-side, for the raw "Jo Jo De Freq's Beauty Is terror Remix(2)" which livens up the bass end with a steady arp and a more hype feel.

Nacho Lovers
Acid Life (DJ Eli & Jokers of the Scene) 12"
Nacho Lovers is the nom du dancefloor of Andrew Ross and Scott Seewhale, a pair of Torontonians who first bonded over a shared love of classic Chicago house and Detroit techno. These days, they're crafting some acidic, synth-draped dance neo-classics of their own, and their first official release for A-Trak and Catchdubs' imprint is already turning heads. (They just got off the mega Fool's Gold Remixed tour with a whole slew of their labelmates.) Whether it's the chugging, hyper-repetitive throb of "Acid Life(1)," the jagged, soul-sampling "Go On(2)," or one of the excellent remixes they got here - might I suggest DJ Eli / Eli Escobar's Bmore-ified take on "Acid Life(3)"? - there's some serious heat for your winter crate contained herein. Also includes a remix from label homies and fellow Canadians Jokers of the Scene(4). Recommended.

Peter Digital Orchestra
Local Hero (Fulgeance) 12"
dirty synth beats and club tracks
Fulgeance, here under the PDO guise, is unstoppable right now. His PDO sound is built more for the clubs, but still incorporates the styles we love him for (dark synths, new school beats). It reminds me a bit of the recent Ghosts On Tape Predator EP, especially the blazing "Bubblegirl(1)" which incorporates some bmore drums. "Red & White(2)" is great example of Ful's bass synths: gritty, dark, and in this case, bouncy. I'm also feeling his use of some hip-hop samples, check "my neck my back used in "Jeux De Langues(3)" and the Goblin meets ghettotech of "Banging Booties(4)." 6 tracks in all, recommended.

Pilooski
A Digital Catastrophee EP
One of our favorite recent re-edit artists expands his repertoire on four new dirty electro house tracks. So far, I've loved all the previous releases and it's pretty refreshing to see a completely new side to his music. Don't know if these are still edits(there's no mention of original artists), but if they are, they're so re-worked and obscure I can't call em. Doesn't mean they can't get you moving though. Check out the minimal world of crunchy kicks and snares on "Low(1)," the womping "dubsided" sound of the "Digital Catasrophe - K remix(2) for some serious dancefloor fodder. The flip gets the electro slap from the original of "Digital Catastrophe(3)" which sounds like a perfect mix for all you Simian Disco lovers, and ends with the techy slow stomper,"Cheiker(4)."

Populette
Mommy (Harkin And Raney Remix) 12"
new disco and house
Moody new disco from Throne Of Blood's newest duo, Populette (aka Max Pask and Andrew Potter). Both Pask and Potter are veterans of NYC's disco and house scene, and you can tell that they've earned their credentials when you listen to "Mommy(1)." The response is "Daddy(2)," a spacey disco cut that leans a bit more towards the quirky side than its A-side counterpart. Eamon Harkin and Steve Raney, the two DJs behind NYC's legendary Mr. Saturday Night party, put a chicago house vibe down with their remix of "Mommy(3)," while TBD (aka Lee Douglas and Justin V of !!!/Outhud) turn it into a warehouse shaking house cut. Excellent work all around, recommended.

Riton & Primary 1
Radiates (Joker Remix) 12"
electro rock with smashing Joker dub
Clear vinyl pressing! Riton & Primary. And it looks like they've been signed to a major! "Radiates(1)" is a super-catchy electro-rock song that sounds like it was taken from an 80s futuristic-zombie movie. Expectedly, Joker's remix(2) is smashing, while the Re-Rub(3) is a stripped down, uptempo club version. Exciting stuff, recommended.

Sweat X
I'm That Alley (Mike Slott Remix) 12"
electro synth-pop from South Africa
Sweat.X is South Africa's Spoek Mathambo on vocals and Markus Wormstorm on production. This is their second EP (the first being 2007's EbonyIvoryTrain, and they continue to push the boundaries of electro with tracks like "I'm That Alley(1)" that feature Spoek rockin' a Prince-style falsetto over a thick beat, dripping with syrupy synths. On "The Knife(2)," they go for more of a dirty ghetto-tech style complete with pitched-down vocals and dirty female raps. Mike Slott turns in a nice abstract beat remix(3) of "I'm That Alley." You might recognize him from his recent remix for Flying Lotus and the Blu Jemz Beat Machine. Includes instrumentals for the original versions.

The Bravery
Slow Poison (Drop The Lime Remix) 10"
indie dance remixed
The Bravery had a hit a few years ago with "An Honest Mistake," and here they're preparing to take the world again with their new wave/power pop sound. "Slow Poison(1)" is a a pretty generic indie dance track, but catchy enough that it could see some mainstream success if it gets enough push. The real reason you're here, though, is to see what Drop The Lime's take on power pop(2) sounds like. DTL puts forward what is by far the most commercial, straight-laced track I've ever heard from him. That's not a bad thing though, cause I'm not sure I want to hear what happens when the Bravery singer's emo-warble gets combined with Drop The Lime's signature bassy-wobble. The icing on this one is the steel drum parts, which add a nice lightness to the track and make it an easy addition to any indie dance night's playlist. Pressed on a nifty looking transparent-orange 10", plays at 33.

The Glamour
Love Burn EP
disco house
Excellent pair of disco house tracks from The Glamour and Herve's Cheap Thrills label. "Love Burn(1)" is nothin but sleek disco synths and pop vocals and thunderous kick drums. Max Morrell remixes it into an electro-house track that's lighter on the vocals and heavier on the big nasty bass lines. The flip features a cover of Daft Punk's "Robot Rock(3)," which is an answer to the prayers of anyone who wished that the original had featured some funky guitar licks and 80s synth chords. That one gets remixed by English duo Mighty Mouse, who turn it into an epic, eight-minute cinematic nu disco track(4) that's already getting tons of hype from the new disco crowd. All four tracks are solid, but the Mighty Mouse remix is the reason this one's recommended.

These New Puritans
Beat Pyramid LP
Import-only vinyl version of the debut album from these London youngsters. (Like for real youngsters - they're all 19.) I was skeptical when I heard that their first single, "Navigate, Navigate(1)," was originally made for a runway show, but this record has some legs. Songs like "Numerology(2)" and "En Papier(3)" are catchy and fun as hell with obtuse lyrics and vocals that demand your attention - definitely feeling some influence from fellow Londoners like Wire and The Fall. Also check: the driving paranoia of "Elvis(4)" and dirty drone and drums on "Infinitytinifni(5)." Comes in a fancy foil embossed sleeve. 16 tracks total.

The Subs
Mitsubitchi (Bobermann Remix) White Vinyl 12"
big room and electro house
"Mitsubitchi(1)," is a big room house track that keeps trying to turn into an electro house cut, only to be corrected periodically by someone shouting the titular word. It's almost like the song is sitting on a crooked table, sliding towards the edge, only to be rescued by a watchful hand every time. Bobermann's remix(2) on the flip lets the song fall off the table, into a pile of distorted sirens heavy kicks. Plays at 45, pressed up on fancy white vinyl.

Thunderheist
Sweet 16 (DJ Eli Remix) 12"
Toronto electro-rap duo Isis and Grahmzilla (aka Thunderheist) are back with their second oh-fish-al single on Big Dada entitled "Sweet 16(1)". The track is actually more sleazy disco-hop than anything, but Lab homie Eli Escobar comes through to deliver that tough electro style on his remix(2). Also features Cruise Low(3), a thick 808 slumper to ride to, and the chugging electro house beats of "Whatever You Need(4)." Check what the hype is all about.

LET ME SEE YOU MOVE IT SHAKE IT CROSS THE DANCE FLOOR. If you haven't heard this hook yet, it's only a matter of time till it's looping in head on constant repeat. The catchy as hell hook and production on this groover(1) is thanks to Mr. Treasure Fingers from Atlanta who skillfully combines roller boogie vibes with modern production tactics for an irresistible dancefloor bomb. Of course you get a nice selection of remixes from the likes of Lifelike(2), Laidback Luke(3) and Brooklyn's resident bass monster Curses!(4), but really it's all about the original on this one. Also included is the handy "Shake-A-Pella" for crafty DJs and producers. Deluxe gatefold jacket designed by Dust La Rock. Plays at 45. Recommended.

Fool's Gold Remixed (Rusko, Chromeo, Surkin) 12"
lab exclusivo release
The Fool's Gold Remixed comp was among last Fall's most enjoyable releases, featuring a slew of the young label's biggest hits remade by everyone from DJ Spinna and Chromeo to the Lab's own Blu Jemz. And it was free! That's gotta rank up there with the Biggie / Craig Mack "Big Mack" burger cassette in the history of "World's Greatest Promos." The bounty continues with this limited edition, promo only 12" featuring four of the compilation's biggest records: Chromeo's take on Treasure Fingers' "Cross The Dancefloor(1)," French whiz kid Surkin's rework of Nacho Lovers' "Acid Life(2)," Rusko's funky (and Kanye-free) dubstep take on Kid Sister's "Pro Nails(3)," and a dreamy new version of Kid Cudi's international smash "Day 'N' Nite(4)" by techmeister Jori Hulkkonen. Turntable Lab picked up the remaining copies, and when they're gone, they're GONE - this is your only chance to get these songs on vinyl so act fast, buckaroo.

Secret Hangout (Gaslamp Killer, Blu Jemz, Snack N Cmish) EP
Can't remember the last time EVERYONE at Lab HQ was this geeked about a Money Studies release, but maybe it's no surprise - there's something here for everyone. Secret Hangout is the new series from Money Studies, drawing inspiration from the old Mo'Wax "Headz" comps by coming with only the strongest tracks and most unique artwork from our motley stable of DJs and producers. To give it our own twist, we've divided the EP into two distinct sides - one with killer club-ready jams and one with heady downtetmpo beats. The club side leads off with the debut of Pocket Checkers (aka Blu Jemz and Ter Kahn) and their insanely catchy electro party starter, "2 O'Clock(1)." (Already a hit in LA, where Jemz kills it nightly.) People have been walking around the office singing the sample from this one for months, and we still don't know what it's from. Eggfooyoung brings the solid "Up It(2)" (a Miami bass / electro / Bmore crossbreed), but I know most of you will be skipping directly to "Young M.D.(3)" by my boys Snack & C'mish. Yes, it's a crazy Bmore edit of the "Doogie Houser, M.D." theme song, complete with Fabo acapella snippets, ambulance noises and the subtle sounds of Doogie tap-tapping into his primitive blog at the end of every show. (Snack & C'mish spent a week watching Netflix'd Doogie DVDs before making this track, just to get the true Spirit of Vinnie Delpino.) The downtempo side starts off PROPER with an instant classic from LA's Gaslamp Killer. "Dagasse(4)" is downtempo like you haven't heard in a while, full of tough drums, dark tones and a mean bass loop. Blu Jemz returns with the afrobeat / future-soul jam "Turn Away(5)," and Hefty's Eliot Lipp turns up to unveil his new electro style on "Slow & Smooth(6)." This is the best-looking Money Studies release in a while too - comes in a nice matte pic sleeve with illustration by Noah Butkus and art direction by PH. If you made this far into the review, I guess I don't have to tell you that this is highly recommended.

Will Eastman
Feelin (Tittsworth & Nakasis, Nadastrom) 12"
disco and house with big remixes
Veteran DC club DJ Will Eastman finally gets around to releasing some original music! This 12" on Plant is Eastman's first foray into original music, and it makes for a very solid freshman outting. "Feelin'(1)" is a house and new disco number, with filtered keys and a great boogie bassline. Some of Eastman's best pals handle remix duty on this one, which includes a heavy Baltimore version from Tittsworth and Nakasis(2), a big room house version by Dubsided's Nadastrom(3) and a poppy electro version (with excellent vocoder samples!) by Dmerit(4). Plant always brings heat, and this one is no exception. Recommended.

Wolfmother
White Feather (Sebastian Tellier, Burns, Bang Gang) Pic Disc 12"
vintage-sounding rock with electro house remixes
Everyone knows that Wolfmother and electro go together like peanut butter and bananas. "White Feather(1)" features that classic sound that they're so good at, makes me want to go buy a Camaro. French synth wizard Sebastian Tellier arpeggiates the hell out of it and gives the whole thing a real gothic vibe(2). Things pick up on the flip side, with Burns taking the vocals and turns them into a relentless siren(3), and Bang Gang flips it with an electro-rock vibe(4). Of course, you get all of that and a great looking, limited edition picture disc as well.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix) 12"
club smash remix of indy rock hit
Quite possibly the rock remix of the year, it's the track heard round the blogs (#1 on Hype Machine) and in the clubs alike, with heavy play from Mehdi and Busy P (featured on their recent BBC Essential Mix), Annie Mac, Tiga, Diplo and of course A-Trak himself. It twists and turns in all the right places, while supercharging the original riff and keeping all of Karen O's charm intact. This one will be getting played for a long while, but the vinyl will only be around for this one-time white label pressing (500 copies only).
