"Lonely Hearts" was a standout track from Joakim's last album, an new wave throwback so spot-on that you probably wouldn't flinch if someone told you it was from the mid 80s. (The wet drums, detached vocals and simplistic synthwork all add to the illusion.) The DFA's Tim Goldsworthy lands the only remix(1) on the single with a side-long rework under his Loving Hand moniker. Goldsworthy builds this one up with a nice acid / new disco arpeggiated synth thing, then screws for the breakdown before building that synth up again. The flip includes a slamming dub version, a radio edit(2) (very similar to the album version) and a rare acapella featuring Poni Hoax lead singer Nicolas Ker on vocal duties. Nice pic sleeve with another silly sketch from Joakim.
