the lab review
A man named Joshua (also known as Iz of Iz & Diz fame) has been putting out hot ass titles on labels such as Classic, Silver Network, Prescription, Seasons, Tweekin and NRK since the early 90s. We managed to find a few copies of this secret weapon for you, released on an "unknown" label seven years ago. This EP has been rocked on many a dancefloor by some of the best DJs around and it still gets play, as both cuts are serious party favorites. The top side is a fine reworking of Jodeci's "Come Over To My Place(1)". Joshua puts his normal twisted spin on this radio friendly track and turns out a dirtier, funkier rendition with a thick analog bassline, deep chords and snippets of the catchy original vocals. I don't have any info on the flipside of this(2), but it's got to be the most unique boot I can remember in recent years. With a sultry Indian woman's long sustained vocal notes and Joshua's trademark bassline, this one starts out slow and pulling, then jumps into serious dancefloor fodder. A must to check out.
