Breakwater Splashdown (Daft Punk) LP

Breakwater's second full length might be known in some circles as an outstanding modern soul funk groover, but heads will recognize it for the monster jam "Release The Beast(1)." If... expand review you're not familiar take a listen... Yup, that's the "Robot Rock" sample source made notorious by Daft. And though I love the Daft version, you really can't front on the raw funk rockin' energy that comes shooting out the original. Those synths and guitars -- forget about it! The LP is worth it for this track alone, but the title track "Splashdown(2)" is jammin' with the funk as well. The rest of the album lends itself to more of a smooth grown vibe with sweet and funky morsels like "Love Of My Life(3)," "Say You Love Me Girl(4)," and "Time(5)." A faithful repress from the pic sleeve down to the label art. -snackmaster
