V/A Loft Classics, Vol.1 CD
Dotan format: CD lab price: $12.00 available: restocking item #: cd-2682	quick audio picks: 1 2 3 4 5 6 I don't think any other party in history has had such an impact and influence on DJ culture as David Mancuso's infamous Loft parties. The impeccable sound system, invite-only door and no-alcohol policy were just a few of the elements that made... expand review the Loft so legendary, but more than anything it was David Mancuso's incredibly tasty selections (I say "selections" and not "mixes" because he didn't mix!). This CD compiles tracks (most pretty damn tough to find on original vinyl) that you might've heard if you were lucky enough to attend one of these parties. There is a very distinct "Loft" sound to all these songs even though they come from many different genres - disco, jazz, funk, soul, fusion, etc. Here are some picks to get a taste of what you're getting into: "Matsubara(1)" by S.O.S., Dexter Wansel's "Life On Mars(2)," Miroslav Vitous' "New York City(3)," the hard to find Prelude "Double Journey(4)" by Powerline, WAR's "The Chase(5)" and one of my all time favorite smoove jams - "Rude Movements(6)" by Sun Palace. 10 tracks total. -snackmaster
