This book is genius. If you don't know Takashi Homma's work already, get ready for a truly different experience. I say it's genius for 2 reasons. One, it's possibly the best stress relieving coffee table book. If you or a guest wanna...   expand review  feel relaxed, have them take a seat, serve them a drink and have them peer into Takashi's serene ocean photography. It really does you good(especially if you live in a city like NY)! The second reason why this is genius is because he's carved out the best niche job ever. Think about the next time someone asks him what he does. Wouldn't you like to answer, "I take photographs of the beach, what do you do?" I would trade with him in a sec. Simply awesome. Full color photos printed in large format 11" x 15". Soft cover, over a 100 pgs. Recommended. -C'mish

Analog brings us their classic cargo short. These brings me back to the days of skating all day, kegs, riding in the back of my friend's truck to BBQ's and tryin' to holla at girls. Yup, pretty essential for summer chillin'. They're...   expand review  made from 100% cotton canvas and feature an Analog flag sewn under the back pocket. Loose fit. -C'mish

Suicide Squeeze
format: 7"

lab price: $6.00
available: restocking
item #: lp-3638

quick audio picks:  1 2
After a collaboration with Prefuse 73, Brooklyn's own School of Seven Bells are back to business on this limited green vinyl 7" for Suicide Squeeze's Singles Club. SoSB features twin sisters Alejandar and Claudia Deheza plus Secret Machines' Ben Curtis, and supposedly...   expand review  they sound something like Broadcast, who I've never really heard. More importantly, "Silent Grips(1)" and "Used To(2)" both feature beautiful vocal arrangements from the ladies, complemented by Curtis' lush laptop beats. "Grips" starts off light but winds up with chunky drums and buzzing electric ambience; "Used To" focuses more on the breathy harmonies, riding atop processed guitar and a quasi-broken beat. As a bonus, each single includes a coupon good for 3 downloads of the 7" at SuicideSqueeze.net -Chris Lemon-Red

First pressing - pink vinyl! Heartsrevolution returns with their screamer of a single, "C.Y.O.A.," aka "Choose Your Own Adventure," originally released on 10" heart-shaped vinyl. The original(1) is cool and all, but probably too abrasive for most dancefloors -- remixes to the...   expand review  rescue! There's something for everyone here (presuming you like electronic music) - Brodinski(2) gives it a skritchy nu disco workout, Lauren Flax(3) keeps the beat minimal but adds swelling strings, and CFCF(4) stays true to the original with much skronk and distortion. Also includes an acidic mix from Dan Oh(5) and a chopped-up Ed Banger-style version by Lazaro Casanova(6). Nice 8-bit sprite artwork on the pic sleeve by Kate Moross. -Chris Lemon-Red

Ghostly International

You know what will always kick ass? Industrial. Nitzer Eb's "Join In The Chant" is timeless, and who doesn't love some Nine Inch Nails? (Probably going to get some hate mail from the NIN fanboys on that one, but whatev's...) Kill Memory...   expand review  Crash definitely has a very similar style, with grinding guitars and some intense electronics thrown in the mixture, but it goes without saying that anyone that can pull a Richard Devine remix(1) for their album should be played without question. Anything that comes from the Warp records camp is going to be sick - play that remix a few more times, will ya? The original(2) ain&'t so shabby either, but it's not as good as Mr. Devine's concoction. Also don't forget that sleeper third cut, "T. Bombay(3)" - it's a scorcher. -minimal man
