Patrick Adams was Peter Brown's partner in P&P Records, getting most of the writing, production and arranging credits for all of their releases. He also worked closely with Greg Carmichael and others, had his own label (PAP), and was involved with numerous groups, labels and studios. In short the guy had a hand in a huge number of records, and this double cd set collects a fine 18 track selection. Collectors take note: while there have been a ton of Patrick Adams-related reissues in the last couple years, about half of the tracks here are first timers and / or surprises. Case in point, I had no idea Patrick Adams was behind Black Ivory's "I Keep Asking You Questions(1)," a burning soul tune that's been a fave ever since I was looking for Wu samples. For the disco shit, they've got Bumblebee Unlimited's wicked "Lady Bug(2)," the notorious "push push in the bush" chorus on Musique's "In The Bush(3)," and Phreek's semi-hit "Weekend(4)." Tough tough tough. The more "known" or reissued tracks are great too, youngsters catch up: two from Patrick's Cloud One guise, "Flying High(5)" and "Atmosphere Strut Remix(6)," Donna McGhee's unstoppable "It Ain't No Big Thing(7)," Day Break's "Everything Man(8)" and Marta Acuna's "Dance Dance Dance(9)." Another essential piece in this underground NY puzzle.
