Despite the laced spine and lime green cover, this is one of the "realest" sneaker books out there. What is refreshing about this book is that it doesn't approach the subject from an elitist sneakerhead perspective. It only tries to be a comprehensive sneaker resource. The information and images are taken from sneaker advertisements and catalogs from the 40s through the 80s. In addition to the vintage ad designs (the early ones are really incredible), you also get thorough technical info like series, construction and innovations. Plus there isn't a book with more obscure sneaker models: those from extinct shoe companies (Superga, Weyenberg, Autry, Ashai, Turntec, Volare... What!?), those from second tier cult classic brands (le Coq, Pony, Asics, Converse, New Balance, etc), and those never reissued by big name sneakers companies (Nike, Adidas, Reebok). The book is broken up by decade and simply designed. Not to sound cheese, but this for the true sneaker fan. Hardcover, 256 pages.
