OVERVIEW The Axiom 61 is M-Audio's advanced USB mobile MIDI controller. This versatile controller has 61 keys (semi-weighted with assignable after touch) as well as 8 rubberized pads, 9 sliders, and 8 endless rotary knobs and more to put you in total control...   expand review  of your software studio. 20 non-volatile memory locations allow you to save your setups (with the bundled Enigma librarian editor software) and you can get started producing right away with Ableton Live Lite included. FEATURES Featuring 61 full size, semi-weighted keys and 8 MPC style pads for drumming and sample triggering, 9 sliders, 8 endless rotary knobs, and a large LCD display, the Axiom 61 has everything you need to get the most out of your MIDI software and hardware. In addition, the Axiom 61 also features 15 assignable buttons, pitch and mod wheels, a 10-key pad right on the front panel for direct, intuitive programming, and 9 dedicated front-panel function buttons to easily access common operations like preset / program change or MIDI channel +/-, octave +/-, and transpose +/-. 20 non-volatile memory locations instantly save and recall your favorite presetsâ€"and you can manage an entire preset library on your computer via SysEx dumps and the free included Enigma software editor/librarian for PC and Mac. The Axiom 61 runs of a USB bus-powered MIDI interface (or optional power supply) , but also features standard MIDI in and out jacks for full integration with your other studio equipment. Also includes Ableton Live Lite so you can start producing right out of the box. OUR OPINION With features comparable to other popular USB MIDI controllers such as Akai's MPK-49 (drum pads, sliders, knobs), the Axiom is a great value for under $300. This 61 key version might detract from its portability, but will appeal to producers that like the freedom of more keys to perform with and the semi-weighted action gives it a great realistic piano feel. -the mgmnt

10 Deep's mad knuckle monster is back to wreck shop on America. This patriotic edition follows up this our nation's most infamous hot dog and hamburger day, featuring a limited colorway of 200 pieces, only sold at specific retailers. Super rude and...   expand review  super collectible. Check the back for the real talk. Yeah, I never liked the term "Freedom Fries" neither. -C'mish

Poo-Bah

Downtempo selection from LA's DJ Take on upcoming downtempo label Poo-Bah. "Hollywouldn't(1)" captures that laid-back, medicinal mj hazed, detached feeling of living in Hollywood; our west coast people can probably attest to that. Labelmate Ras G provides the remix(2), an excellent revision,...   expand review  offering tasty drums and a similar spaced out feel. "Dusk Day(3)" blends several downtempo styles (slightly glitchy, psyche vocals, boom bap beats) into spooky, sounding Sunday morning track. "In Every Way(4)" is another highly skilled track, showing Take's advanced production technique without smashing you in the face. Impressive. -the mgmnt

Oh yeah man, if chillin' is your game, you need this for your speakers. This is Zeb's newest four track EP, with more dubby downtempo and house sounds to go with your beanbag and beer. The sounds kits are thick and...   expand review  impressive, and really capture a hard dub feel for electronic music. Check the uptempo riddim on "Ride One(1)," the uber-stank on "Rude Boy Style(2)," the freaky Indian samples and cannabis slump on "Lovers Dub Step(3)," and slight hip hop feel of "Tantra Hall(4)." I wish I had this at the flurry of BBQ's last week. -C'mish

Juxtaphone

Energized club blends from Trick Turner in the style of GAMM, Sol Selectas, etc. Fusing record nerdery and club power, Turner concocts four to drop on any dancefloor. Start with the beefed-up version(1) of MJ's "Don't Stop." He adds latin drum rolls...   expand review  and even some acid, for controlled mayhem. It sounds much much better than it reads on paper. Not letting up, "When Dubs Cry(2)" is one of the best Prince remixes I've heard, as Turner cuts up the Prince classic over a shuffling house beat. For the hip-hop-breaks quotient, check "Dirty Rock(3)" which mixes up MC Lyte and Don Henley. Lastly, Russ Ballard's "Voices(4)" gets beefed up with a heavy rock drum break, a great track to start or end a night. Recommended. -the mgmnt
