Money Studies kicks off its new "Lost Masters" reissue series by resurrecting this impossible to find mix from Diplo and fellow Philly record hoarder Tony Tripledouble. Originally self-released on CDR in an edition of less than 500 (plus a few handmade cassettes),...   expand review  AEIOU 2 is over an hour of the finest and rarest breaks drawn from Diplo & Tripledouble's extensive collections of psych, funk and obscure soundtracks. Some of the breaks in this mix have gone on to achieve classic status - still no tracklist to help you out, but now it comes in a full-color digipak designed by PH. And if you ever wanted to hear Diplo skratching, right here's the spot. Recommended. -Chris Lemon-Red

OVERVIEW Korg's KM-202 merges a top quality 2-channel with numerous EQ options and crossfader adjustment with their renowned KAOSS Pad interface to create a powerful mixing tool for the creative DJ. The possibilty of adding high-end effects directly from the unit creates the...   expand review  opportunity for dynamic mixes and unique musical experiences. FEATURES The KM-202 is a 2-channel, 24-bit digital mixer that delivers huge headroom and pristine audio quality. The most unique feature of the KM-202 is the onboard Kaoss Pad which features one hundred effects (including many tap tempo BPM effects) accessible with a swipe of your finger to add unlimited creativity to your DJ sets. It is easily accesible and placed in the center of the mixer with a KAOSS button on each channel for quick, independent control of effects and FX Release function which allows reverb and delay tails to smoothly decay through preset and effect changes. DJs will also appreciate the programmable crossfader which allows you to adjust the response and curve to suit your style, and the six independent types of EQ (from powerful high-pass filters, to unique "Hyped" and "Isolator" EQ curves; plus every channel has a dedicated three-band EQ [Hi/Mid/Low] that responds in different ways according to the EQ curve) that deliver great flexibility to shape your mix and sounds. OUR OPINION With the huge success of the KAOSS Pads, it's no surprise Korg made the next logical step and created a high-end mixer with the KAOSS technology built in. They nailed everything creative DJs might want (especially advanced crossfader and EQ options) with a decent price tag. -snackmaster

Another unmixed comp of dusty psyche gems from Gaslamp's personal stash! GLK is a complete mystery to most of us here in the BK office, but these collections (and his way too infrequent blog posts) tell us all we need to know...   expand review  - this man is dangerous. 15 tracks, with no silly things like artist names or song titles to bind your mind. For some original Gaslamp beats, check his track on the Secret Hangout EP or his upcoming 12" from Money Studies. Highly recommended. -Chris Lemon-Red

This mid-priced headphone from Sony is something of a legend. Initially introduced in the early 80s, it became the standard among studio heads and educated consumers alike for its excellent sound reproduction and strong build. Look up some reviews on the internet...   expand review  and you'll find that people literally swear by them. According to the specs, these aren't much different than similar current models, but fans claim they have a certain chemistry that makes sound that much better. Turn V6's all the way up and you will still have clear (but not tinny) highs, solid mids and an undistorted bass. The construction is also notable, with sturdy metal fasteners and a handsome leather headband. The cord is single sided and coiled. The MDR-V6 come with a leather carrying pouch and a silver 1/4" adaptor. -the mgmnt

After months of searching for the lost master files - finally found 'em deep in the belly of a Czech pressing plant - the unmixed wax companion to A-Trak's Dirty South Dance mix is here. On the A-side, Unk goes up against...   expand review  The Gossip for "Walk It Out Trizz(1)," then the Clipse and Slim Thug pop bottles in Paris with Alex Gopher on "Wampercycle(2)." Not sure of the source beat for "Frenchies Act A Fool(3)," but Lil Jon and Three 6 have never sounded so Euro. Also not sure if M.I.A.'s "XR2" will end up on her album, but it's on here ("MIA-roder(4)"), blended with - you guessed it - some sweet Italo beats. Fool's Gold continues their trend of dope packaging with nice custom-printed all-over print sleeves and a sticker with artwork by Shepherd Fairey. Recommended. -Chris Lemon-Red

The biggest single of the year (as far as Lab's concerned) finally gets the proper remix treatment, plus a new version from Justice themselves. Alan Braxe & Fred Falke's remix(1) stands above the rest, chock full of their trademark lush synths which...   expand review  somehow make anything they remix sound floating and awesome. MSTRKRFT's remix(2) is pretty nasty too, but Justice's new "live" version(3) outshines it in terms of pure dirty electro-ness. Jackson & His Computer Band's "J.A.H.C.B.(4)" won't be burning down any dancefloors, but it's definitely the most inventive and epic take I've heard on this track. -Chris Lemon-Red

The seventh volume of the landmark Hollertronix 12" series introduces us to the Boogie Down Bottle Nose Dolphins, a new tag-team consisting of Diplo and NYC's DJ Eli Escobar (who also has a Money Lotion release in the works). Always one...   expand review  step ahead, this series introduces us to the next manifestation of the Bmore edit with six stone cold party tracks for the brains and ears. The strange concoction "Betty(1)" is our immediate favorite here, and helps us remember why this series is so jocked. Diplo then follows up his classic "Goldigger" remix with a remix of the new Kanye-Daft Punk track "Stronger(2)." Lastly, unpredictable as ever, Eli digs into the Trax vault for a remix of Ralphie Rosario's "You Used to Hold Me(3)." DJ Eli, whose known amongst his club DJ brethren for his edits, delivers the no-brainer club bangguhs to earn those paychecks. First up, check the Dolphins' remix of "DANCE(4)" by those French doods, then a riot-causing MJ remix(5), and finally a Diplo remix of "Groove Is In The Heart(5)." Need we say more?
